Charger etiquette......

When arriving at a charger(s) and the its in use, what do you do? Identifying others in the queue can be difficult.

I usually ask the person using the charger, in the nicest possible way, how long he will be charging for. And once whilst waiting, another EV turns up and does much the same. I approached this EV, and very politely pointed out that I was next in the queue. He took it nicely, and motored on to the next charging station.

But I can imagine that there could be charger stress, and potentially unkind words bandied about.

I agree it can be difficult sometimes but we can all empathise with the other drivers and, as fellow EV drivers, help each other as much as possible.

If I'm charging and another car drives in, I expect the driver to speak to me and ask. Similarly, if I drive up to a charger and there's 2 cars (with one charging), I would speak to both drivers just to confirm the 'order'.

Yesterday, I grabbed a hot dog and coke from Costco and popped down the road to a free CCS and 'topped' up whilst having my lunch.

A Kia eNiro arrived just after I finished eating (and wiped all the ketchup and mustard from my face, steering wheel and the seat! ). I checked my battery and I was just over 80% so stopped charging and gave it to the other driver who was charging to go to Stirling (only 35 miles away) but had about 30% SOC.

Obviously, there'll be the odd exceptions (previously some bugger jumped in front of me in the queue ) but I've got to say, everyone else I've spoken to at the chargers have been really nice and, often, interested in each others cars!

Hopefully, I'll get the chance to meet another member at a charger in the near future!
