Charging Flap / Door not opening

There's a manual release inside the boot behind a flap. If that works try cleaning/greasing the mechanism.
Edit: Brain fart alert ; must have been tired, this isn't the case.

When unlocking the car and you are standing next to the flap can you hear the catch releasing?

Scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas but try pushing it firmly closed before unlocking the car.

I had this problem on Monday. All my attempts to open it failed and I took it to the dealer who wrenched off the outer cover, breaking it in the process. This reveals the inner cover which can be opened using a star key. A new solenoid and cover have been ordered for fitting in a couple of weeks. Do not try removing the outer cover yourself as I have heard of someone doing this only to find that the work will not then be covered by the warranty.

Yes I can hear it release. I even kept the door pushed in as I did it. You can feel it release but just won't come out when pushed. Even tried my finger nails under it to pull it out. No luck.

What are you doing while waiting for it? Are you driving around with the cover off?

Yes - the cover that has been removed is just cosmetic and the inner door seems to be a water tight seal. It no longer locks but this is not a problem as far as I’m concerned.

Sounds like the spring loaded locking pin isn't moving when its released so unfortunately it looks like a trip to the dealers.

It might be an idea for those of us who haven't had this problem to spray the mechanism with silicone.

i now have the same problem - really frustrating - what a stupid design not to have a failsafe method to open the hatch - the car is obviously useless if you can't charge the thing! I will update what the MG garage says and what happens next. Thanks for the information and the heads up that we could be looking at 3wks for parts. In winter we had to use sellotape to make it close as the connections were frozen and would not work.

Can't get my charging door open. Anybody any idea how I can get this open?
My mg zs ev charging door not opening too, I have tried lock unlock the car many times still it opening is there any way to open it as I’m unable to charge my car at the moment.

I wonder if it would be easy to disable the locking mechanism? its not as if anyone is going to steal your electricity :(

Had the same problem with my Trophy MG4. lock and unlock the car, listen to see if there is a click at the charging flap. If there is not the solenoid has broken - this should be covered under the warranty. I had mine replaced. The big problem is to get the MG garage to take the car in to fix it, I was originally given a date 1mth away.....Another approach - and I have not tried this myself, is to look up on youtube for a video where the person levers the flap off so you can access the star lock underneath. Be careful not to break the flap - although I was told they should be quite cheap to replace. In reality it is crazy that there is no physical release of the charging flap - as no one can actually steal the electricity!!! - Good luck
