Bit of a general rapid charge MG4 question...mods feel free to move

What SOC is achieved above 80% and how fast?

I've got a mini road trip (260 miles) coming up and would prefer to top up soon after departure and then again just before arrival.

have a look on Fastneds website for the charge curve, its around 10kW at 85% +, depending on temp / chemistry etc.

260 miles is way above our capabilities (basic SR), just get to near destination, and topup (as we can get around 86kW below 40% SoC) - you'll only need to charge once in the summer.

It doesn't seem that slow on my car if I'm doing something else. I charged to over 90% almost every stop on my trip last week, and 97% a couple of times.

I'll by trying out the Todhills Tesla chargers this afternoon, to give ERO a boost to reach East Boldon. (It's a handy stop for a coffee and loo break).

If I'm right then Tesla is only at the southbound services, so on my way home tomorrow I'll try out the Ionity chargers at Carlisle.

Let us know about the Todhills situation. I believe it's only the southbound carriageway that's had chargers all along, and if you're travelling north you have to negotiate some weird access road to get to the other side.

Ionity Carlisle is very nice. Drive round the back of the Starbucks and they're in a line on the other side from the main car park.

Todhills Southbound ... follow the signs for GridServe and the Tesla chargers are there too. (You only see them as you approach the GridServe chargers, otherwise they are hidden by the hotel). The cost was £7.98 at 42p per kWh.

I also charged up at the Carlisle Ionity chargers ... but I couldn't use my Electroverse card to pay. The cost was £12.97 at 75p per kWh.

That's odd, I used my Electroverse card there last week.

In summer, my LR Trophy gives 50kW at 80% and 30kW at 90%. Somewhere around 92% it drops rapidly and it is pulling around 4-7kW above 95%.

?‍ Tried it a few times and got an error message each time about it not being an approved payment method.

There were two places you could tap the card. If you tapped it on the place for bank cards you got that message, if you tapped it on the place for RFID cards it worked.

Well made it to Dorset. Those charge characteristics are about what I saw on the XPOWER. The really disappointing part was the 40KW charge rate from 30 to 80% at Amesbury Tesla Superchargers, it was busy so do they throttle back when loaded?

Did the exact opposite on my 1st non Tesla charge the other day. I got a similar message using a credit card on the area for the Electroverse card. The bank card reader was off to the side and had much more subtle signage which I only noticed after swapping to use the Electroverse card.

Yes, they do, so you may well have been limited by the infrastructure there. The Kempower chargers (used by Osprey and some others) are the only chargers I have seen that tell you whether it is the car or the infrastructure limiting the charge rate.

(Flint mountain was last one I used)

I have had problems with the Electroverse card sometimes at those but reverted to the Electroverse app and then it worked. The card has worked at some of the chargers but not others at that site.

Got this on the ones in Bristol and Carmarthen, but used the ones near Wokingham in Reading on Saturday and didn't get above 60kW. Then some plonker in a Tesla connected to the the other charger in the pair, and reduced the output to both of us, even though there were lots of free chargers opposite to us.

I've got to get an i3 from Basingstoke to Scotland tomorrow so I was just looking at Zapmap and Chargefinder for ideas. I notice that Porsche South Lakes has disappeared from both maps. Have they restricted their chargers to Porsche only?
