I purchased my ZS SE 2022 model in July. For a while everything to do with charging via my Monta charger and app was fine. I could use all 3 options - charge now, smart charge and schedule. Where possible I opted for the overnight smart charge as it’s cheaper.

A while ago I noticed the charging paused when I scheduled or smart charged the car. So I started to try the charge now option, this usually works but during peak hours so is more costly. However sometimes even with this option the charge will pause - what’s going on? Any help and advice would be very welcome.

There are a few things you can check, either in the car on the battery screen, or in the iSmart app.

Swipe down in the app to get the battery option (bottom right).

Go to the settings (nut symbol top right).

Is your Target Battery Level set below your current level of charge? If so, the car won't charge.
Go into Scheduled Charging and see if there is a schedule set.

Have a look at the same things on the battery screen in the car.

Who is your electricity provider, and are you on a EV Tariff? It may be that your providers 'smartcharge' also runs while demand is low during the daytime as with BGas if your not on their EV tariff.

Hi thanks. We’re with OVO but not on an EV tariff - long story. We are on economy 7 which usually runs between midnight and 7am. Have tried starting the charge at different times and still get the same problem. However for some reason, having not worked on Saturday night it did work on Sunday!

Mine is sometimes the opposite, I set the charger to start on midnight but sometimes it starts as soon as I plug it in so I have to stop the charge via the charger app. It's not the car but the charger messing up so I don't think there is much you can do but work out the best way to deal with it. You could try someone else's charger to see what happens ... or try with charger on "charge now" but set the schedule via MG app or in the car ...
