Good morning everyone ! For all the reasons rehearsed in various threads I have recently been charging my standard range mg4 battery to 100% . However , without me changing anything in the car /zappi it suddenly decided to charge to only 80% last night despite me asking octopus to take it to 100% . . It's not a crisis but does anyone know why this should be ?

Did your Zappi show any warnings or anomalies? Any guesses that the wires going into the Zappi overheated and stopped working?

As far as I know, chargers (not just yours) are prone to overheating of the incoming wire and poor ground contact, which can lead to charging termination.

And after unplugging the charger, its warning will disappear. You need to pay attention to its indicator light or APP the next time it appears.

Check the charging % in the iSmart app in case for some reason that's been set to 80%
Turn the Zappi off at the fuse box, wait a couple of minutes before switching it on again.
If you are on Octopus intelligent don't set any charging schedules on either the car or the Zappi

Its probably set on your car vs the charger is my first guess.

If you go into either the app or dashboard > battery > you can drag the bar up or down on % for "long range mode"

Appears SR has not got this ability, left post for visibility for LR Owners.

Happened to me last night using Ohme epod. Set to charge to 80% but stopped at 76% for some reason ????. No previous charging issues. I'm also with Octopus.

Interesting - maybe its an octopus thing ? They did change the scheduled charging . Also I found that the car was set to charge until 6 am and the octopus schedule had it charging until 7.30 so I will change that . Lots of wisdom here and many thanks for all replies !

Do not set a schedule on the car if you are using IOG - they may well be incompatible on many occasions.

My schedule changed also. Must be something to do with Octopus as I checked with Ohme and they could see that the charging had stopped early.

See also this thread in the ZS EV forum. It's starting to sound like an Octopus issue. Maybe they changed their software and introduced bugs?

I am completely hacked off with Octopus and the way they change the schedule after it has been set. What the hell is the point of saying "We've mapped tonight's smart charge!" followed by a detailed list of charging slots, if they're just goint to change it? I emailed them about it, got a reply that didn't address my issue at all, and two follow-up emails have gone unanswered. I have set my Zappi to charge every night during the Octopus off-peak period, and just plug the car in to use that instead. I think there's some minimum number of times you're supposed to request a smart charge under the IOG terms, so I'll ask them for 10% before 5.30 am or something like that every few weeks.

Not really - the cause here was a schedule on the car switching off at 6am, but IOG wanted to charge until 7:30.

The other thread you quote the Zappi rebooted mid charge and threw a hissy.

I know you don't like it, but that's how it works, how it has always worked, and presumably will continue to work, its dynamic to balance load as demand changes. I think if your set-up can't cope with that then you need to switch to the plain Go tariff with fixed hours.

If that's the way it works, why the deceptive "we've set up tonight's smart charge!" and the list of times? There's literally no point. And nowhere in their T&Cs can I see any explanation that these times are meaningless.

I can manage fine, they only require you to do the occasional smart charge, which I can do. It's just super-annoying that they lead you to believe something is going to happen a certain way, when it simply isn't.
