Today I took the wheel trims off my Wifes Trophy LR & cleaned her wheels & tyres. I had ordered some centre caps off Ali express, they arrived via pigeon (3 weeks) & to my surprise they're identical to my x power wheel caps. Anyway point is - Does her car look better? OR should we leave the trims on ? Here are before & after shots & “IF” you like it the cost was only £6.00 & elbow grease. Incidentally Does anyone know what size Nut covers the MG4 takes please ?

As you know pal, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I think it looks better with the wheel trims.

But who cares what I think!

It's what you, or more importantly, what your wife likes is all that matters.

It is her car after all!

Agreed. I thought other MG4 owners may be unaware that nice 18” alloys lived behind the trims. So I thought I would show em how easy it is thats all. Transforms their car & costs peanuts ?

Normally I would say, without a doubt alloys, but as wheel trims go, they are actually very nice. But I think the alloys are just that bit nicer, and if the alloys do get Kerbed (hope not) just put the wheel trims back on. To be honest either way it looks good. ??

The wheel nuts should be standard size and covers start at about £5 a set from Amazon so won't be disastrous if they don't fit.

Personally I think I'd have the wheels powder coated in an anthracite grey if I was to remove my covers.

Anthracite is mint ? had another cars alloys done in that colour. I thought Gloss black for this ?. As for nut covers I ordered 4 different sizes once for a skoda ev & none fit ?

Would you like to sell the original trims or do you know where I can purchase please?

Hi its not the look it is air flow that the covers provided to the vehicles brakes and underside, maybe more important in Australian conditions than Manchester but look good ?

You can buy original wheel trims on Ali express. My Wife prefers trims on so they went back on her car until we can afford new alloys that she likes.

Can you post the Ali Express link please. I see some on their website but they dont look as nice. I have base model MG4 (in NZ called Excite) wheels are 17" and hub opening appears to be 52mm.
Thanks

If you mean the centre bore. It's 57.1 mm.

I just have to say the car is absolutely gleaming and looks amazing regardless of wheel trims or alloys.

A few have suggested that the wheel trims may be useful to affect airflow over the brakes et al, but they are more important for lessening the air drag and increasing one's range. That's useful for our "long distance" car (the "77").
For our "51" which is the town runabout it's not so important as the airflow drag impact at lower speeds isn't that important and maximum range isn't as important either. Actually, I also prefer the wheel trims on the "51" (called the SE in UK) over those on our "77" (UK Trophy ER).
Typical!
The ones I'd consider removing are the ones I can't :ROFLMAO:

Hi KMC, I bought an MG4 Trophy ER in September, my second MG4 the first was an LR Trophy. I took the trims off that one and replaced them when I traded it in. I much preferred the look without the trims, so I wanted to do the same with the ER. The trims are the same as the ones on your wife's car, but they won't budge🙄. I went to see my dealer and they advised that to get them off, you need to use a pair of long nosed pliers from underneath and from the back of the wheels to release the very strong metal clips that secure them. If you force them off the trims can be damaged and the alloys scratched 😒. I've decided to leave them on and when it goes in for its first service, I'll have them removed then. I just have to be patient🫤
