Check your 12V battery connector nuts!

Hi everyone, after 1.5 years of ownership of my MG4 64kWh the only big issue I had was that sometimes the car would give all the fault alarms at random times and 2 times it happened that the car complitely shut off (fortunately not when driving). The second time it shut off the car wouldn't even open and I had to unlock it with the manual key. In that moment, before calling a tow truck, I opened the bonnet and found out that the negative connector bolt was completely loose, so I screwed it down and the car turned back on. I went to the MG workshop anyway and I made him replace the standard nut with a self-locking nut because only the negative connector didn't have one. I even made him check all the fault alarms and he confirmed that it was only a 12V power failure. By the way the app only notified me about a power steering fault every time.

Have you had it serviced?
Checking that is a MG requirement on the service plan.

Think that @webhiker mean had you had it serviced then the issue started to happen. A check on battery terminal is part of the service schedule.

Thanks @toma, this is a good reminder, it's always worth us checking the battery connections ourselves regardless of whether the car has been serviced or not.

This is a known problem. The battery terminals should be checked on PDI. But some cars are obviously not.
