Chorley Motor Group Chorley - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

I posted this on a google review.

Overall experience was good. However would like to point out there is potential to buy a dangerous used car due to the tyre policy. I hadn't inspected the car before pickup and trusted them before as it had been serviced the day before and 1 tyre replaced. When picking up the car I wasn't happy that I would have to replace the other 3 at my own cost. This was due to 2 rears had cracked tyre walls, the remaining front tyre was a different brand and had just above the max tread depth. Raised my concerns at the time. Took the car at my risk knowing that I had to replace immediately.

I knew any risk taken was my own, and have had the tyres all replaced to match.
the salesman did reply when I challenged about the different tyres on an axle "The tread is the same pattern".
I am happy with the car, but was a little aggrieved as I had travelled and taken a day off work to pickup the car and expected it to be servicable.

Am i harsh for posting publicly

Nope.

I think it was short-sighted to put the car on the forecourt with cracked tyres.

When I bought a car for one of my sons, the dealer said it needed a new tyre on the front and that, as an AA dealer, he would make sure that it was replaced at no cost to me.

I asked him to replace all 4 with Mich CC2 and he gave me a cracking price.

When we were gifted an old Mitsubishi, the first thing I did was get new rubber.

The car was 18 at the time and three of the tyres on the car were cheap ditch-finders and the other one was the wrong size. I'm still not sure quite how that happened. The spare was an original Michelin that had never been used. It looked in good nick, but I didn't want to trust it after nearly 2 decades in the boot.

I went to National Tyres and they had a fantastic discount on Bridgestone Weather Control A005, so I took 5. Ended up less than £400 for the lot.

I never scrimp on tyres or brakes.

Apalling service (or lack of) from here.
Contacted them mid January to book car in for a fault, earliest they could do was second week of March..
Duly dropped car off the day before, and they looked at it as promised. unfortunately they couldn’t find the fault so I had to collect it again whilst they contacted MG Technical. From then on, nothing. Not responding to calls, promise to call back but never do. They obviously have decided they are not going to try to fix the car, and assume by ignoring all contact (including from MG UK) they hope I’ll just go elsewhere.
Had to contact MG UK who have been chasing dealer on my behalf, but dealer not responding to them either…
Disappointingly poor all round, unless you want to buy a car from them, and then it’ll be all smiles no doubt.

Pleasant experience when buying my,
X Power last Sept. No pressure to buy at all. Had 2 long test drives unaccompanied. The car sold itself really.
Not had to go back for anything, so far. So can't really comment on aftersale service. First service in September so we'll see how that goes. 🙂👍

One thing I will be telling them, though. Is I don't want any updates whatsoever. As my car is running fine. And I've heard a few times, that updates have made the car worse. 🙂👍
