MG recommend particular types of coolant and screen washer fluid in their manual, but Halfords don't recommend Glycol (OAT) coolant for the MG3 Hybrid, and I can't find anything about 'Original MG Motor screen washer fluid. Comments please.

I'd say any decent screen washer fluid will be fine, but probably best to avoid the really cheap stuff from the likes of Aldi etc.

I have been using the Aldi, Lidl screenwash for years, particularly the one with citrus in it, as it prevents the jets from clogging with limescale. I have never had an issue with it.

So where do you buy yours?
Waitrose or Mark's and Spencer??

Nothing wrong with buying the "cheap" stuff!

Just make sure the minus temperature (winter driving) it protects to is what you require. ?

You have a new car?
You should not need to be worrying about the coolant at all.

Keep an eye on it of course, but if that starts to drop you will be taking it back to the dealer to be checked because you will either have a leak or some other problem.

In normal use the level you see should remain constant.

Filling the windscreen washer reservoir is included in the MG3's annual maintenance schedule, so except in very special cases with particularly bad weather, you shouldn't have to worry about this problem.

However, I do agree with you on one point: I've never seen a car with a cleaning fluid level indicator. At most, there's a light to tell you that it's empty and so... it's already too late to think about refilling it in this torrential rain

I use this one from Halfords, it's actually gone up in price a lot in the last couple of years, but I like it, so I still buy it. Also it won't freeze in temperatures as low as -20 degrees, whereas the cheaper ones usually only go as low as -5 degrees or so.

Thanks for that, and all the other help from various members. You're right about the coolant levels, but just checking in case.
