Correct procedure (stopping at traffic lights)

The MG4 manual suggests using Autohold at traffic lights and says the following on how to use it. I didn't realise pressing the brake again released autohold.

Stop, press P on rotary switch. Wait. Twiddle your thumbs or Pick your nose, if that's your thing.
Lights change, foot on brake, move rotary
switch to D, foot off brake, and off you go. Simple's. End of. 🙄🤪🙂👍
 
That's too complicated for me, I'd probably put it into reverse by mistake.

At least the Autohold stays active in the MG, in the Kia I had before you had to switch it on for every journey. The number of times I forgot and the car started to move after I relaesed the brake pedal.

When the traffic light turns green,
all the cars behind start honking . . . .
 
To be fair, don't think there is a "correct"
procedure, as such. It's whatever you want to do, whatever your comfortable with.
As with a lot of things, each to their own.

I've only noticed two differences in my MG4. Auto-hold keeps the brake lights on which may be a little annoying for other drivers at night. Touching the throttle (should it be called potentiometer in EVs) to restart with the Parking brake on produces a noticeable clunk/jerk as the Parking brake disengages while the Auto-hold release is as smooth as silk. Probably just me as usual.🤪
 
Reckless1957, if this isn't autohold, why does it only work if the autohold button is switched to on (light on) and the autohold icon illuminates green on the display? And why does the instruction manual call this autohold? If the PB is on the icon is red on the display, not green.
