MG4 Trophy LR
I took my MG4 Trophy for its first service to Baylis MG in Gloucester last week. It is a faff because I live quite a few miles away from them. But Baylis MG made the whole experience very easy and pleasant. They provided a courtesy car, which was arranged prior to my arrival, but it was ready to go when I arrived just after 8am. Later in the morning, I received an email with a link to a video review of the car by the mechanic - that was a very pleasant surprise. The car had its software upgraded from R33 to R59. They even gave it a clean - inside and out, and it was ready to collect just after lunchtime. The charge was extremely reasonable and the engagement from everyone was friendly and professional. I received a detailed service report as part of the service. I even managed to get a glimpse of the Cyberster in the flesh. What I was expecting to be a faff really wasn't. Also, the car feels much better after the software update. LKA is nowhere near as aggressive as it was - enough for me to leave it on now. My phone also stays connected to bluetooth. Thank you Baylis MG!

You see, it can be done!

Well that's two of us happy anyway! ?

Thread 'X Power First Service.' X Power First Service.

Just back from the dealers after its first service, bit of a mixed bag really . Cleaned and polished the car this morning ,topped up the washer bottle , tyre pressures etc . Dropped the car off at 2.00 after lunch and the service manager said it would be an hour . After the allotted hour returned and it was ready. Paid the amount on the very basic receipt which included a small amount for topping up the washer bottle ,which I questioned along with a newly installed pollen filter ( 4600 kms ? ) I said ," isn't that every two years." Gallic shrug , "No every year" grrrr.
They installed R33 even though I was happy with R21 and I had not requested it, so was interrogated by AA when I plugged the phone in, The service booklet was not stamped ( its all on the app ?????), and the receipt did not have the mileage recorded on it . No other paperwork or report card ,SOH for example .
Then to top it off on the return journey the car was playing mind games with me , it seemed to be quieter , smoother, and running like a dream , all the settings as I normally have them ??? I cannot think it was the new washer liquid. Does R33 change any of the actual driving characteristics, even subtlety. My new bit of info said it was 32.5 c outside , not sure of its accuracy but its in the ballpark , and the A/C now seemed to hunting with its fan speed to keep the cabin at the requested temperature. So mainly happy but with a few annoying reservations. :cautious:

Baylis Gloucester is my local dealer and my after sales experience with them has been great too, even though I didn’t buy the car from them.

My car has been in under warranty a couple of times there and they have been really good. I even got the software upgrade without them putting up a fight like most people experience. They said they normally charge but as the outside temperature was missing they would do it under warranty.

Night and day experience to the terrible service I had from Heritage VW / Cupra up the road that I’d wait over a month to get the car in and were then seemingly incapable of fixing anything! Waited 6 months for recalled tyres on back order once and when I went back to chase it up they had some and hadn’t bothered to let me know.

No it doesn't. R33 is the software version for the infotainment module. I suspect they have updated several other modules at the same time.
Perhaps they did, they only had it an hour and the information I got back was non-existent, even with the difficulties in linguistic comprehension. (that will be mine).
