Cyberster - what we know so far

@Miles Roberts CG, Has Chorley group sorted out any finance figures yet? I put in an order back in May, but I've not heard back from them. It seems that other dealerships have finance figures already.
Hi Bobby, we do have the ability to quote on finance, although the majority of our customers had indicated that they would be paying cash / self-financing for their Cybersters, so we've not run up any examples unless customers have expressed a particular requirement (such as part-exchange valuation etc).

Our team should have contacted all pre-order customers by the end of this week. If this hasn't happened, or if you want calling sooner, let me know via email/DM.

I was expecting in the region of 3% since Tesla are doing 0%. Definitely a no go. Happy to wait till there in the 30s and look again. Or if they can reduce the rates for any future models then it would be tempting

Tesla Example.
Representative Example | 48 fixed monthly payments of £593 | On-the-road cash price £63,390 | Total down payment £10,200 | Total amount of credit £53,190 | Optional Final Payment £24,722 | Interest charges £0 | Fixed rate of interest per year 0.00% | Length of agreement 48 months | Total amount payable £63,390 | Representative APR 0.00% | Mileage per annum 10,000 | Excess mileage charge 14 ppm (Plus VAT).

They arrived in Bangkok, less than two weeks to handover.
I guess RED is the dominant colour.

The problem with Tesla finance tends to be the low MGFV of the car and lack of discount on the price, so the rate might be low but you pay for it in the end... that's a big £10k deposit and only a value of £25k after 4 years in on a £63k car.

Agreed, plus don'tlike the White bonnet on the Red cars. ??
Aye that and the Matt black fabric roof ?
Have a look and see if there’s any more beautiful estate cars I could slice up to give them that wonderful useable style beloved of so many of me ??

They're 36k in US as well.

You do save over £200 per month. You're also unlikely to be negative equity at 3 to 4 years. The future value of the MG will most likely be £28,000 on GT if £739 per month

Nice! Just shows though, Yellow is the one to have, to easily find in a Car Park.
???
In Thailand the MG5 is popular in the same yellow and has been on the market for about a year. Having a Cyberster the exact same color would be a bit of a downer! Hence I ordered red. :) (but in all honesty the MG color choices are shared across their various models). ;) It would have been nice if the MG flagship "Halo Car" had its own bespoke color choices.

An article in a Thai language newspaper stated the initial landed number was 250 units. Not sure if thats fact or not. MG informs me that the factory will perform a PDI first and then the cars are trucked to the dealers where another PDI is undertaken for training purposes. Seems odd but thats what they're saying. This has resulted in a slight delay in customer deliveries which are now targeted at Aug 5-9. Having said all this its hard to know what is fact or just hearsay.

The last information I got from my dealer is hand over to me 3rd August. Let us keep the fingers crossed that it is true.
Today their wall charger installer came for inspection. That did not give me any confidence. They did not know about 3 Phase electricity and even told me MG does not have a 3 phase charger. That is not true as MG has the charger model with price and installation costs on their web page in Thai Baht. It is their 11kW charger. My house is 3 phase and I need to get 3 phase to split the load equally.
Another project I have to work on just because the car is electric.
Well, the Cyberster has AC 11 kW on board charging. Seems logical that MG than also offers an 11 kW wall charger.
Any Thai update would be appreciated. Thanks.
Looks like we are Cyberster pioneers here after China of course.

Lower monthly payments are only there to suck in people who can't really afford the car. I am not at all sure that the MG will be cheap secondhand if they limit the numbers as planned. Teslas are produced in such volumes that it undermines their resale prices.

The Thai Wallbox installers not fully understanding the differences between single and 3 phase while disappointing is unfortunately not surprising. Depending what province you live in (I'm Chonburi) PEA has/had a program (which is however under review for some changes) that installs a 2nd TOU Time Of Use meter FOR THE EXPRESS AND SOLE PURPOSE OF CHARGING AN EV. It is in addition to your house meter. I have a Tesla model 3 as well as a Volvo V60 PHEV and thus have 2 Wallboxes installed already. One attached to my regular house distribution panel (single phase) that has a 12kW full house solar system with house batteries, and the 2nd attached to the PEA TOU so I can charge at night "off peak" for 2.7 baht per kWh. (y) However in Thai style many people cheated and sneakily ran additional wires and off the TOU for other purposes and PEA got upset so they are reviewing the program. If you don't have a TOU now I think a solution would be to put a TOU on your house service. I charge at night for the 2.7 baht and during most days I can charge off the excess from the solar system. My house energy savings covers the cost of the system so using the day time power for my EVs is essentially "free". Hence my overall EV operating cost is REALLY low! The Tesla "installers" were competent as were the contractors from Volvo. Thank goodness! ? My carport with two EV Wallboxes looks rather EV purposeful. :) The Wallboxes indeed might be limited to I think 32 amps but not 100% sure. But better source someone who is competent on the subject! I have access to both single and 3 phase but chose single phase for the TOU installation as its less expensive and the Tesla charging schedule is set to start at 22:15 and is usually completed charging by 2:30 or 3:30am (depending on SOC) at 7.5 kW. If 3 phase power 11kW it will reach the chosen state of charge faster but if it finishes by 1:00am instead of 3:00am its of no real benefit to me. I'm considering having the MG Wallbox installed at my in-laws in Isaan however their house electrical system may not be sufficient. Anyway, maybe we can take this "offline" so as not to bore our UK friends too much! :giggle: I'm envious of your projected Aug 3 date!

Please let us know the SOC of the battery on delivery and if the dealer is fully versed on the features of the Cyberster. Let us know all the items that come with the car etc etc, (y)

one more thing interesting that I saw today.....

There is Google Maps pre installed in the car and working right away via the on board SIM card, there was no need to connect the phone and use my own android auto.
Welcome to constant gps tracking. The disadvantage of all these nice feature.

While typing I see incoming post and can add on here.
Included was a 1-phase 7 kW charger, original packed in a box in the trunk, grrrr I need 3 Phase, need to buy extra they do not interchange with upcharge.
As well in the trunk is a charger cable and a granny charger.
The state of charge at handover will be 100 %, my dealer promised as I do not have a wall charger yet.
Today it was at 30% = 136 km on the display. That seems the delivery SOC from the factory.

Good info. ? You might double check on the need for a "3 phase charger". All the appliances in a house are not specifically 3 phase devices even when they're installed in a "3 phase" house. The charger should just connect to a breaker in the distribution panel that is on one of the phases and thus it is in essence needing only a one of the 3 phases? ?‍♂️ The battery in the Cyberster is lithium ternary or NMC. This type battery generally is recommended be charged to 80% with only to 100% for trips? However since the battery warranty is "lifetime" I guess its not so serious to be concerned with battery longevity! Can you check the "fine print" on the warranty to see how MG defines "lifetime"? :) What about the MG App? Its "iSmart" I think. It should connect to your mobile and allow various functions from the App that can be done remotely with the Cyberster.
:) I can assume no "summon mode" that moves the car with the remote. I suspect that removed from all Cybersters regardless of geography. Is the VTL adapter in there? I've heard that MG is delivering the cars to the dealers with instructions to deliver between Aug 5-9. You could be the very first to take official ownership outside China! I also see a silver Cyberster in the background. Do you know if that customer is also taking delivery by Friday? Sorry for all the questions! But I'm thrilled for you! Anyway, I'm waiting with anticipation for your feedback after your first drive. Maybe when I get mine I'll make a trip to Phuket so we can see 2 red Cybersters parked alongside one another! That is if I can pry it out of my wifes hands! :giggle:

@SunriseJak

"fine print" of warranty in Thai language very funnnnyyyy!

I will give full update after the first drive. The owner of the grey Cyberster I met in the show room and we exchanged contacts. Same handover, because of the window tinting film, otherwise the cars are ready to go.
My dealer gets another 5 Cyberster in the next month shipment. This time he got 3.
VTL adapter I will ask at hand over.
When is yours coming?
