Cyberster - what we know so far

That's not my understanding of build to order, if I pair it up with JIT manufacturing, which makes sense for such a niche car/pricing... I really wouldn't expect anything past the numbers of paid deposits + maybe 20%
I don't think the Cyberster or in fact any MG falls into the old Build to Order model. There are

2 Power Options
5 colours
2 hoods
2 interior

That is a max of 40 different configurations, although some are not valid (red with red hood).

My last brand new VW there were over 6 pages of options running into 100s of configurations. You got told when it was being built at the factory etc but that way of working is hugely expensive especially when most setups are the same. Those days are gone.

I suspect it will be as @GranTurismoEra said they will make a set number and ship to dealers as ordered and when all the red smarties are gone you will have to have white or nothing...

They have one in Cardigan, but it's not for test drives.
Just for looking at!

I'm sure if someone rocked up with the asking price they would sell it though.
This is why I said it was the "touring" Cyberster, as in one of the press fleet that's been touring dealerships recently for us to paw over.
ISTR hearing that the dealers have to lease their demo and display cars from MG, and so can't sell them immediately

So this "touring" car, is there a list somewhere of which dealers it is going to, and when? I've still to see one in the flesh, and wonder if I ever will here in the far north of Scotland :( If I knew when it was going to get to Scotland, even Edinburgh or Glasgow, I'd get in my car and travel to see it!!

Salesman told me it was theirs so I assumed they had bought it into stock.

I'm only guessing that it's a "touring" car, because that's what Renault did with the 2020 Zoe, and Kia recently did with the EV9.
That, and the dealer saying it's only there between 10-5 today.

Yes, our demo cars will be leased, meaning we cant sell them for 6-18 months depending on the lease length, and then have the option to purchase them at the end to sell them on if we have enough interest in a used ex demo

Interesting comment from Sam Luscombe (Sales Director at Luscombe Motors) on the Facebook group: "There are a number of cars 100% categorically in the country and at port having the air scarf’s fitted"

First I've heard that UK Cybersters are getting air scarfs.

I knew they were getting a wind deflector but not air scarfs, can't quite see how that would be an easy retrofit.

nothing from MG directly about this, as far as we are all concerned they won't have airscarfs, probably he means the wind deflector?

we know already that the first cars are at the ports already, however delayed due to documentation issues with the DVLA

Makes more sense than a delay because of not enough staff

The car I saw was a "New English White" (beige) dual-motor with red roof & grey interior.
Worryingly, I not only fit, I could see under the windscreen top rim and get in & out easily.
My wallet has gone into hiding!

And? Don’t leave us hanging! Thoughts, impressions etc.

Well we did ask about air scarf and HUD since MG visit this forum apparently but it was already late in development to try and add that. It would have needed looking at around 2+ years ago before the first road tests. At least the yoke can be retrofitted.

That definitely looks a different shade of the white. Might be the light.

You just had them.
I fit. I like it. I don't want to spend that much cash.
You want a review, go to youtube.

It's definitely beige. Look at the actually white MG3 in the corner

Thank you for posting your impressions and that's good news about the yoke, that increases the appeal for me.

Looks nice in that colour combination.

Happy Saturday bank holiday weekend.
Just had a video email update from my dealer.
My car is in the country in the batch of cars awaiting sign of.
They hope to have their demonstrator early in September they will start test drives and then move onto customer cars getting ready for delivery.
Fingers crossed if the test drive goes well I should have my yellow GT before the end of September.
