Cyberster - what we know so far

I'm hearing there are no test cars and earliest delivery in the UK is September

what a shitshow

My dealer told me just over a week ago that the demo cars will arrive late August, and the first customer cars mid-September. The reason given was that whilst the demo cars themselves have already arrived, the paperwork needed to register them hasn't arrived yet...

They're already here, but another Brexit bonus is no automatic type approval anymore for a car that's already elsewhere in the EU... ;)
yeah i'm loath to blame brexit though. MG should be aware of the process in advance. Brexit didn't happen last year

Lack of membership of the EU is no excuse for the incompetence of our own government. The delay is due to the UK reportedly having only 1 person employed to register new certificates of conformity for all new cars.

fair, thats a bit different - but tbh, if the cars only landed a couple of weeks back, thats still on MG considering a month turnaround is not unreasonable.

Logistically the cars should have landed in June for a summer release, not july

The certification is a paper exercise, they don't inspect the cars at the port - this is a one off process when a new car is available. So when the cars arrived makes no difference.

We don't know when MG applied but apparently lots of manufacturers are being delayed by this process.

I can believe MG did leave it late.

Whats the panic?
Summer in the UK has been cancelled until 2026 so the delays to the type approval should not be a problem?
Even one bloke doing the type approval should be able to handle the problem
There should be lots of unemployed MPs looking for work

Better than 38% Tariffs. Time Britain got its big boy pants on post brexit.

Bet they dont document the process either. Trying to keep a job ?

You can syncronize the a/c temperature control for driver and passenger. See attached pictures. It is this tiny little switch shown on the screen. Hope it is helpful.

My only critisizm so far is that when you drive top down, windows down, there is far too much and too wild wind coming in. Light loose objects are even starting to fly around. You need to put the windows at least half way up. It is no comparison to the smooth airflow you get in a MX5 ND Miata. The triangle at the A-pillar is too short and the air is pushed into the cabin by the mirrors. I guess design stood over practicality. Hope a smart guy is coming up with an after market solution.

Does your model have a wind deflector? I understand the UK spec cars come with built in wind deflector between the seat backs to tackle this, plus lower seats and a few other changes MG UK insisted on.

Yes, it has a wind deflector between the seats.
I thought about testing it without, one never knows.

Your message engouraged me to test further right away. I removed the wind deflector and it is a bit better, and much better view through the rear mirror of course. I will leave it off for the time being.
One correction, the wind is not coming in at the front because of a too small triangle. It comes in roughly at shoulder position and is than bouncing back to the cabin instaead of flowing out. Up to 80 km/h is kind of acceptable at 100 km/h the passenger seatbelt starts flapping like a loose sail in the wind and the towel of my wife on the passenger seat starts flying around in the cabin.
Only solution for me in the moment is put up the window half way. That works.
Still I love the car!!

Thanks for pointing out the passenger/driver temp synch. (y) ;)

Do we know what the battery is? Is it Ternary (NMC) or LiFePO4 based? If the latter, it should be very long lived and very safe regarding fire risk even in extreme damage events.
Im surprised the resident critic hasn't updated us lol. NMC i think
