Hi All,

This may end up being a totally daft question from a newbie but I can’t seem to find the answer.

Just taken receipt of a Trophy in Black as a lease through work. Had a bit of a nightmare on the first journey (130 mile round trick in minus 5c in the wilds of West Wales). Also terrible trouble with the app losing connectivity, the charging lead getting locked in the car, a dashboard full of battery warning lights and my zappi charger refusing to charge the car (requiring 26 hour granny charge).

Anyway, just wondered if you could tell what the symbol is to the right of the time on the dash.

Many thanks.

Just push the lower left stork away from you towards the dash all the way

Indicates what the following distance on the adaptive cruise control is set to.

Can be decreased, from 3 down to 1 bar, and the car will then keep a shorter distance between your car and the car in front.

Someone will come by and tell you how to set the distance, i have already forgotten, not having had my car for 4 months, and having to wait 8 months before the new one arrives.
I feel your pain. Waited 10 months for mine to arrive.

Yeah, i even had one, until some old idiot decided to total it :(

We only waited 2 months for it, but 4 months later when we ordered a new one after we got the money from the insurance, the waiting time had gone up to 12 months...Right now you can not even order the top spec LR, with 3 phase charger on MG Denmark's website, they are so far behind on orders, that it makes not sense even taking more orders.

Lower left stalk is the cruise control, one pull pilot two pulls. Symbol is the distance to vehicle in front, it can be adjusted by twisting end of stalk. Works for cruise and pilot when using for slow traffic

That’s terrible. Never thought about that issue. Car getting damaged beyond repair and then having to wait a year for a new one. I hope you weren’t injured.
By the time you get another one the new ZS will be be out. I read the next Gen is due in later 2023.

In that case they better let me have one of the 3.gen cars :)

I was not in the car when it was crashed into, my wife and 2 of my 3 kids were though. My wife was in the hospital over night, complaining of chest pain, which ended up being from the seatbelt pretentioner pulling her back, and then she got a facefull of airbag.

I was actually on a ferry between Denmark and Sweden, going home from a Motorcycle holiday with my third kid, i must admit that getting text messages in the middle of the ocean "Crash detected by you MG ZS EV" followed 2 seconds later by "Airbags deployed in your MG ZS EV" was not very nice.

Wife was a bit surprised that i called her right as she exited the car, she could not understand how i knew. When i asked what had happened the first thing she said was "It was not my fault" I think she knew that if she had been the one responsible for crashing "my" brand new electric car, she could have just crawled into the boot of the car, and be taken away with the car :)

One of these days i will have to get around to sending the dashcam clip into wham-bam dashcam. :)

I’m glad you are all okay. Just interested how did you get the message and who sent it? Was it from the car?! That’ll be amazing.?

If you ever set off the alarm in the car, you will have gotten a text message saying something to the effect of the alarm was activated.

The messages were just like that one, just a bit more ominous than the alarm one.

The car will also call up emergency services if it detects a crash event.

At the crash site, it did not though, but i suspect, thats because it detected doors opening and all the "Seat is occupied" sensors to tell the car, everyone was out of the car.

Later that night, when i arrived and had to empty the car, the 12V battery was disconnected for obvious reasons, and i could not get into the boot, so i connected the battery for 2 seconds while my son quickly opened the trunk (Electric only) and then i disconnected the 12V battery again.

Even though it was only on for 2 seconds it managed to wake the telephone module and it then made a 112 call, which i was unaware of, until i heard someone speak inside the cabin.

Had to apologize to the operator, and explain that the car was indeed crashed and had called up because we attached the battery shortly. So there is even a battery backup in the module that calls up 112, which offcourse makes sense since the 12V battery could be smashed or wires sheared on impact cutting 12V power to the module.

As a sidenote i can confirm that both front seats and both outer rear seats has seatbelt pretentioners, and in a crash event, they all get fired, no matter if someone is in the seat or not. The one on the back seat where no one was sitting, was just as tight and completely locked up as the others. The middle rear seatbelt has no seatbelt pretentioner.

Yes, the car will send out such messages via the app. Very glad Mr Madsen's wife and children were OK. Must have been shocking to receive those messages whilst enjoying the cruise.
Yeah, offcourse it is nothing compared to what they experienced, but still it is a bit chilling, getting that kind of messages.

We had just discussed that we were not going to use data and not do any calls while on the ferry, as they have equipment onboard, but it is offcouse very expensive to call.

That did not really matter when i got those messages, and the call was made instantly. :)

The main thing is that your family were okay.
