Dashcam powered by ODB socket... thoughts

Hi,

I am still waiting for the delivery of my MG4, which is supposed to arrive at the dealer's today... hopefully.

I am thinking of buying the following dashcam: GKU 4K Dash Cam Front and Rear - Amazon.co.uk (USB-C)
Or maybe: RexingUSA V1P SE 4K Dual Dash Cam - Amazon.co.uk (Mini-USB)

While I know there are plenty of fusebox kits to power dashcams, I was also looking at OBD power supply options for the dashcam, for simplicity, such as: VANTRUE USB-C OBD Hardwire Kit - Amazon.co.uk

Has anyone else used either of these dashcams and/or an OBD plug to power a dashcam?

On another thought... we have a car with both front and rear cameras built-in... but it's daft that we can't use those somehow... recording onto an Android Auto device for example.

I have Nextbase front and rear cams which were fitted via Nextbase. Rather than hard wiring into the fuse box I gave the fitter a cheap plug that provides power via the OBD. Works very well.

Thanks for the reply. That's good to hear. I will definitely be getting the Vantrue OBD kit, as that one allows the user to set their own custom voltage protection level, whereas other cheaper ones seem mostly to be set to cut off at 11.6 volts (or thereabouts), which is way too low.
