Definitive List of Differences between MG4 SE’s Long and Standard and Trophy’s

I think the Grey colour is the best colour in the MG range, and especially on the Mg4 with them part way up the doors plastic trims, the wife wanted red so got red cleaning it twice a week in this weather, my MG5 Trophy is grey, that reminds me must give it a wash tomorrow had almost a month now so there must be some dirt on it somewhere, can’t really tell.

Cheapskates that buy the SR will probably shop at Lidl. LR drivers likely shop at Waitrose;)

I agree, the differences are negligible. I only mentioned it because you suggested that the SR performed better when that is not the case in the real world. Better to have the performance for making safe overtakes than for the traffic light grand prix.
Is that safe overtaking or just generally breaking the speed limit ?

Can I just find out please apart from the range and battery price etc , are there any differences between the SR and LR MG4 SE?
Thankd

I agree Siteguru, forgot about them, the other thing I have also just remembered is the battery chemistry is also very different some say the SR is a far better battery in some ways time will tell.

It's certainly more convenient for home charging once you can shake off all the "only charge to 100% once a month before a long trip" indoctrination that rubs off from the instructions given to NMC battery owners.

It likes being charged to 100% and balancing, as often as you want to do it. This isn't going to make a significant difference to the battery's capacity before the actual car rusts away. And doing it will ensure that the GOM doesn't hand you any nasty surprises when you're running low on charge on the motorway and you missed your turnoff.

"It said I had 20 miles of range, so probably just enough to loop back, and then suddenly it went down to 4 miles." When did you last do a balance charge on that thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

And then the same exact thing happens a couple of years later, to the same guy in the same car!

He had 39 miles on the GOM for a round trip of 26 miles. That should have been fine unless he was intending to go up to the top of the Cairnwell Pass in midwinter with a headwind. But. It happened again. "We got to the park with 9% battery and 23 miles on the GOM, for a 13-mile return trip. Should have left us with 10 miles to spare." The thing went turtle on him at 8% SoC and the car died three miles from home.

Now I'm prepared to stand corrected on this, and Mr EV doesn't mention the matter at all, but my impression is that this is what happens with an LFP battery that hasn't been balanced recently. There's another video somewhere from a German guy with almost the same story, stuck at a fuel-less Rastplaz after his GOM dropped precipitately.

But to avoid this, basically treat it like you would treat your phone or your Kindle, plug it in and charge it right up whenever you want to. Don't cycle it up and down without going to 100% any more than you can help. (This could make it less convenient for those who can't charge from home though, for whom sitting on a type 2 charger to balance can be a pain to arrange. They might be better with the NMC which prefers to be cycled up and down in the middle of its capacity.)

Nah, it's motability issue car with a £799 payment up front for me.

Same with me mate . I’ve gone for the (changed mind three times) Pearl Black MG4 SE SR. I could’ve had the LR but same spec ie no rear wiper etc plus £200 advanced payment. I’ve had to give myself an attitude readjustment because I was getting really finicky and panicky over things then had to stop myself and say look- most of the guys and girls on here are paying £26-£30+K for theirs so they want it absolutely perfect and so they should. You and me well we’re in somewhat some would say “a fortunate position” (personally I’d give my right arm to be a fully fit and healthy person able to buy my own car but I’m not so there it is, and I’m certain you feel the same) Point I’m making is this - repairs etc cost us nothing so any problems back to the dealership to sort out and in the meantime they’ll give you hopefully a hire car any probs.
Scuse War and Peace I’ve been known to use a zillion words when ten will do but I hope you get my drift . I’m so excited to get mine I can’t wait and I’ll show it when I do and hope you choose what you want.

Don't forget also that Trophy drivers are constantly imagining themselves crossing the finish line at the Monte Carlo rally in 1st place, with confetti showering them as they collect their winner's trophy ?.

Never underestimate the power of naming.?
Which is why the SE SR is called Excite
?
