Did the option of charging the car up to 80% disappear?

Hello, I have a MG4 Standard for some months now. Before it was possible to set the option to charge the car up to 80%, however now I don't seem to be able to find it any more... Am I missing out something? Is it possible that it was removed for some reason? If it was, why?

Thanks.

??

It was never an option in the UK. Perhaps the app elsewhere has been updated with the same settings as the UK?
I had it as an option (in the iSmart app, not the car) for about 2 weeks, then one day the option had gone. My assumption is that this is configured at MG's server side and at some point the profile was updated to remove the option.

I would certainly like to set the target by hand.
I would put the max charge at 35-40 and have plenty of range to run an errand. Since I learned that I was doing charging completely wrong from this :

(Plus the video also explains why the manufacturer wants us to charge at 100%)

I have been trying to keep it as low as I can while still being able to do what I need it to do with some margin.
Ultimately I don't care about having an accurate SoC reading unless I go for a long trip, and I would charge my car overnight at 100% for those so plenty for battery balancing and SoC calibration.

I think that guy is not talking sense. He reads scientific papers then puts his own interpretation on them. So what if by taking extensive pains you might extend the life of your battery by a month or so? The car itself will have rusted to bits by then.

We discussed this to death in another thread, including that stupid video. Don't worry about it. Euan McTurk is a genuine expert, better listen to him.

I would gladly listen to that expert's opinion about that paper that was released months later than the video you linked.
He would certainly be aware of any flaw in the methodology or if the findings were replicated or not.

I do not think that the conclusions of the paper are any hard to understand and I think that no matter what the youtuber from the video I linked wanted personally to convey, it does seem to align with the researchers.
Cycling near the top of charge (75%–100% SOC) is detrimental to LFP/graphite cells. Our results show a correlation between the average SOC of battery operation and capacity fade rate, meaning that the lower the average SOC, the longer the lifetime, in these 2500 h of testing.
Think what you want about the youtuber or the reseacher of the paper, but I it seems more like gratuitous ad personam than anything else here.

As for the "extensive pains" of not charging over 40%, well as I said, I don't use that much range anyway, my car is mostly sitting. I also use a granny charger with off-hours, that is 15% of the battery per night, hardly difficult to unplug the car when it goes over my preferred threshold.
But it would be even better to be able to set the limit at 14% and then have absolutely no need to do anything.
And that is the very point to post on this topic. If I cannot have a custom limit I would still take the 80% limit back.

It's not going to come back - or highly unlikely anyway.

If you want to limit the charge, simply calculate how much you want to add (based on your typical charge rate) and then set a schedule (either in your charge point app or in the car/iSmart app) that equates to the necessary charging time. e.g. from a 7kW wall box you'll get roughly 12% per hour into the car (with the 51kWh LFP pack).

I am not sure if it will help, but the location of setting the battery charge level moved a few months ago (for a LR)

Click into the battery widget, press the Nut/Cog in the top right, Target Battery Level is now here.
