Does anyone else use the Digital Key feature in the iSmart app? I have stopped carrying my car key completely now, just leave it at home! Rather means I have to keep my phone charged up mind you. Great feature!
@Rob24
I used it after arriving at a shopping centre, without my key. I had previously left my car running on my driveway, while I popped indoors to change my bag. I was in a hurry, as a friend had arrived for our trip, and it simply didn’t occur to me that the key had been left in the ‘old’ bag!
It only dawned on me when the car failed to lock on the door button……
The digital key option certainly saved the day, locked the car and then unlocked and started it after our shopping session.
You set your own access number on the iSMART app and it works with the Bluetooth connection between car and phone.
I have activated it and it seems straight forward enough
I just used the biometric log in and it took me to the key section.
I was not connected so I'll see what happens in the morning.
The only thing I was not sure of was the two really big buttons at the bottom of the page,
One was disable and the other one was share.
Do you know what exactly I would be disabling and or sharing with?
The ‘share’ option means that someone else can unlock (and presumably start) your car - I’m not exactly sure how it works on the MG, but my son needed to use something similar on his car.
I’m guessing it again requires a connection between phones.
I have used it before. You can use your phone fully instead of the key to unlock and start/drive the car. It works pretty well, but I wouldn't rely on it in general as I think it relies on having phone connection and can be a bit slow to react. Wouldn't want to park in an underground car park and not have signal
