Hi all, I'm waiting for my MG4 extended range and wondering how many cables I need?

It comes with the Type 2, I'd like the granny cable for occasional charging in places without wallbox, and I understand the vehicle to load cable is also separate - so Type 2 + granny cable + V2L cable = 3 different cables? Is this correct?

Dealer (in Italy) is asking €415 for the granny cable + €350 for V2L and I've been reading that third party cables can be unsafe. What have other people done? Do you just get all 3?

Depends on your needs.
In my environment I would never need a granny cable. My type 2 is included. So that leaves the V2L, which was a nice 50€ addition from Amazon (not a cable, an adapter which fits in the armrest)

Hi
The V2L is only needed if you are going to power any external electrical appliances from your car.
Genuine granny cables are available from a number of sources, suggest you check online for availability in Italy or other EU countries.

See my response above

415 Euros for a Granny seems excessive. I got mine for about £100, and used it several times before I had my Home CHarger installed - and once more when I stayed at a hotel which allowed me to plug the cable into their domestic socket.

Amazon or AliExpress

We bought this one and it's perfect. You can dial down the current if you're worried over your house wiring - we run ours at 10A which is well below the normal EU Schuko plug rating if 16A. I just use the car or app scheduler to charge between 00:05 and 06:00 during cheap rate and before the water boiler comes on. Recommended.. https://www.amazon.es/gp/aw/d/B0C8SFXJHM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Yes, that looks good and similar to what I bought on Amazon but make sure it comes with a phone app.

My socket is 13A rated and maximum the charger uses is about 10A even when I set it up to 13A. Try and see what happens when you set yours on 13A ...

I elected against this after reading of other's woes. The next day's electricity prices are published at 21:00 every night so I just either set the car to charge via the app between 0:05 and 06:00 (when the water heating comes on) if it's cheap then - or for later / not if it's a different price like tomorrow will be:
