Hi everyone - for about 12 months or so I’ve been experiencing multiple driver assist failures (ACC system currently unavailable, forward collision system currently unavailable, auto emergency braking system unavailable, driver drowsiness detection system fault) in my 2023 MG4 Trophy. The problem only happens when the weather is warm (15 degrees or higher and it’s sunny outside).
The warning messages come and go continually (every couple of minutes) while I’m driving and can be really distracting as each time they appear there are several warning “bongs”.
I took the car to my local dealer at the end of last summer and after a few attempts they diagnosed a fault with the “module” (they didn’t explain what it was called) on the windscreen behind the mirror and said they would order a warranty replacement. After a month or so I called them for a progress update only to find the service person had left the company and hadn’t written anything down :-( so the new staff couldn’t do anything without seeing the problem (the weather was colder and it didn’t do it again).
Fast forward to this week and the weather is warmer and it’s doing it again now. Apparently there is a 3 week wait for diagnostics when I took the car to them with the errors on screen but I’m told by the service manager that the technician has seen this before (I recorded a video of the messages) and thinks it telematics.
Has anyone seen this before? I looked up telematics and that seems to be the remote connectivity to the car and not related to the cameras/safety systems.
Anyone have any ideas what module this might be behind the rear view mirror? Blasting the aircon on cold at the windscreen for 10 minutes does make the warning go away so I do believe it’s the module behind the mirror causing the problem.
I really like the car but it’s really frustrating having to deal with the service departments when you have simple problems that take an age to diagnose/fix.
Any tips so I can make sure the service department diagnose the correct module would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
