MG4 Trophy LR
I've seen a post on one of the MG4 Facebook groups that in Europe, the Luxury model (Trophy in the UK) is now being delivered with a totally new design of sensor. I don't know where it is situated but the photos posted show no sensor in front of the steering wheel.
Several French/Spanish owners have said that its a redesign and it was implemented in cars from August onwards. Has anyone else seen this or knows something of it? How about the latest cars to have just been delivered?

Had mine delivered today it’s a pain in the backside already ??
When I test drove the MG4 trophy last week it perpetually came up with these annoying messages, so I asked the salesman if you can turn them off and he said yes. I hope so as I've put a deposit on one now. Obviously the sensors don't work very well, possibly as I wear glasses which are photochromic, i.e. go darker with sunshine.

You can turn it off - but it'll come back on the next time you get in the car. You can though permanently turn off the warning sound (but not the graphic alert). :)

On mine it also came back on every time you go above 40mph, so if you turn it off, then speed up to 40mph, it'll come back on and will continue to do so every time the car passes 40mph while accelerating. The audio alert does stay off permanently, though.

The attention system in my car is currently in a fault state and doesn't work at all, I'm not in any rush to get it fixed.

Yes best kept not working ??

They have used the “Take a break” alert on VAG cars for a number of years now.
It just gives you a visual warning in the dash panel and an accompanying single audible “Bong”.
There is some worked needed on the MG4 system for sure !.
Honestly, is it really necessary to have it ?.
I mean, who is likely to pay any attention to the warning message anyway.
Either your bladder or pure common sense should tell you when you need to take a break when driving, for safety reasons alone.
You should not have to rely on a warning message from the car really ?.
Let common sense prevail folks !..

Unfortunately the legislators / NCAP are catering for the lowest common denominator - the utter numpties whom most people wonder how they ever passed their tests (if they even did). Hence why a high NCAP rating now requires all these "safety aids" on top of physical safety protection, since common sense is becoming less common seemingly every year. ?

I think they need to rename that these days to ‘rarely used sense’, rather than common sense! There is a severe lack of it most of the time from what I’ve seen…

Although I agree manufactures do rightfully build in these safety aids, to help gain a better NCAP rating and make the car safer for us all to driver.
But we have to keep a bit of a balance here.
Am I right in thinking that the MG4 SE does not have the "Take a break' warning as a feature and only the more expensive Trophy model has this feature ?.
Regarding the NCAP scoring, I do therefore find it hard to believe that the SE would be given a lower star ratting score, just because it does not have the "Take a break" warning feature !!.
I don't see this feature being a huge influence, with regards to the scoring system of the NCAP team to be honest.
I do understand it will be a combination of many of the numerous safety features, that add's up to the final score given to the car, but I can't see the "Take a break" warning being highly regarded as a major safety factor to be honest.
Comparing the "Take a break" feature with the benefits gained by ABS braking and air bag protection system etc is not REALLY in the same league ?.

Collected my car from dealer yesterday, it had sat there for 2 weeks waiting for oil leak fix but they have decided I can drive it again while we wait for new part, go figure. Anyway, they updated the software while it was there, both the infotainment and the car software. The driver awareness warning comes on far less often now.

I believe the SE has the Take A Break warning after X time driving; only the Trophy has the Drowsiness Warning with the sensor on the steering housing.

That’s excellent news. Any other improvements?

NCAP only ever test the base trim of a car, on the grounds that safety should not be hidden on an options list.
That's partly why the Renault Zoe got downgraded to 0 stars last Xmas, most of the useful safety stuff was only on the higher trims.

I have this 'Take a break' warning on my Superb, the good news for me is that I can extend the time this comes on.
I am sure someone will come up with a way to disable this.
