This is the real issue with electric cars. GM has been known to sell driving data to insurance companies.

As I have said before, Chinese are a step further away from European insurance companies. So may be we are safer buying Chinese than the struggling European car makers who are desperate for money.

Yes and No.

ICE car makers are actually assemblers and marketers. They try to get all components from other manufactureres. This is one reason why they cannot compete with Tesla and the Chinese. EVs are all monitored from a central hub and therefore have a lot more details.

I guess it is like a doctor knowing your condition by just looking at you versus having a full medical checkup including blood tests etc when they look at you.

(Just on a side note, this is why social media is so toxic. Your digital foot print and interactions means they know you better than your siblings, your parents and your spouse. In fact they know you better than yourself since we deny/ignore certain behaviors. )

Sorry but that's utter nonsense ... ALL cars get their components from other suppliers, except in rare situations where most of the content is made "in house" - i.e. Tesla. An EV is no different to any other ICE car except for the drive train. ALL new cars are "computers on wheels" these days.
