Was travelling to our local Tesco store this morning and as we were approaching a side street a car was coming to the junction not fast enough for me to think it wasn't going to stop but fast enough for my car to think it wasn't going to stop and my car did a semi emergency stop just enough in case it didn't stop. I know now why my car did that it was part of the built in safety feature and I'm well impressed but at the time I (shit myself) pardon me for that but if there had been a car right behind me we would have been taking them out of our boot.

Had you set up any "speed assistance" and/or "autonomous driving"?

Haven't set anything up yet only got the car last Wednesday.

Would appreciate any advice on what settings should be and under what heading. Finding this hybrid driving so confusing I feel the car is controlling me. The miles under where it says EV is just going down everytime we go anywhere, am I right in thinking that's the miles left before needing filling up?. And how do you know when your driving on electric or the engine,.

1 - Distance to empty in miles
2 - Battery power being used in kW
3 - Total distance travelled in miles
4 - EV = Using electric motor, HEV = Hybrid mode (petrol engine running)
5 - Regenerative braking mode, defaults to 2, 3 is more aggressive, 1 is less.

I don't know if anyone else has had the same thing happen but we were out one day and the distance to empty went from 50 to no display at all, so be filling up before then.

Thanks very much MG Clive, my screen differs from yours, but I have never seen my screen showing HEV. I am going back to where I purchased it in the morning to find out if I have it on a wrong setting though not touched anything since I got it. Will report back.

This is what my screen shows.

Ahh ok, well that's the ZS Hybrid+ screen, this thread belongs here.
Hi MG Clive, I am now confused.com, as you point out it looks like the screen from the video posted by tsedge in the ZS Hybrid+ Forum, but I think it is a similar screen in the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid!!

Come on Lollipopman and tell what car you have please? If it is a ZS Hybrid+, where did you get it? I can't see any for sale yet at the dealerships.

So sorry guys, it is indeed a ZS hybrid plus- trophy. Got phone call last Monday to tell me latest batch had arrived. Had test drive Tuesday drove it away Wednesday. Stoneacre Rochdale. Am I on the wrong forum!!!, something tells me I'm in trouble. SORRY.

We would like to thank MG Clive for this illustrated and highly educational photo.

I would add to the fuel gauge: E for Empty and F for Full.

When refuelling, there's no need to reset the meter - it's automatic.

Finally, on the subject of energy consumption in kW. If the number is preceded by a - sign, this means that the HT battery recharges by X kW.

Congrats on being one of the first ZS Hybrid owners @Lollipopman, it looks like a great car. No of course you're not in trouble, but obviously if you post in the MG3 forum, we all think the discussion is about the MG3. The ZS Hybrid+ forum has only existed for 5 days, so we'll forgive you for not knowing it is there. 😉

Apologies for jumping in. I picked up my ZS HYBRID + on the 14th, and with the dealership’s, and Clive’s help, I’m starting to understand its complexities. I’m not complaining, given that car is supplied with just about every feature imaginable there is bound to be a steep learning curve.
However, I do think the MG have missed a trick. There is no brochure, surely it must be easier to produce a brochure in time for the launch, than to produce a car. There is no manual provided with the car. I appreciated there is a manual in the iSmart App, but it is not comprehensive. I also spent a long time finding a manual online which, although it says is for this car, has significant differences to the actual vehicle, which was very confusing.
Many of the features, take time to get used to. For instance, the ‘follow the car ahead’, works, but when you’re driving it’s difficult, if not dangerous, to try and negotiate the settings. I was very concerned by the way the steering wheel kept jerking. Eventually I realised that the car was not just controlling the speed, but also the track. When I realised, I relaxed and let it do its thing. To be honest it’s not as smooth as I am, but it does work, mind you, you have to keep your hand on the wheel, or it reminds you.🤨
I think, as more are purchased, the overall experience will improve, and this forum will expand and provide an important source of information and help.
I suppose this is what happens if you are unwittingly, an early adopter😊.
Cheers Noel.

Hi Noel, you will know exactly what I mean when I have said on previous threads that at first I felt the car was "controlling me" but regards manual i had to get in touch with MG head office for the user manual and they stated they was going to update ZS manual so if they haven't you will have to do the same. You can take some settings off but once you switch off they come back on. I have found that settings "economy and regen 3 seem to work best known as "one pedal driving" which once you get used to it is good.

Bye the way MG Clive has been quite helpful to me to along with others they will get us through!!!.

Hi Ann.
How’s the learning curve going🤔? Have you found the ‘new’ manual? If not it can be found on at https://www.mg.co.uk/sites/default/files/2024-11/MG-ZS-Petrol-Hybrid-Owner-Manual.pdf
Be warned, it is not a panacea, it maybe 350 pages, but it appears to have been translated by somebody with absolutely no knowledge of the vehicle. As a result a lot of it, only added to my confusion.
Perhaps if others have a similar experience, we could all contact Guy Pigounakis Commercial Director at MG Motor UK ([email protected]) I think, and ask him nicely to get one if his staff to proofread it.
Cheers Noel
