I thought I'd start a positive thread as a counter to the EV opposition thread. Time for some positive stories. :)

A lot of the Private Hire Cars in Weston super Mare used to be plug in Prius's. They seem to have been replaced by MG 5's and I've seen a Model S with a plate on it.
I think countrywide the MG5 is the taxi drivers or private hire car drivers vehicle of choice (black cab areas notwithstanding).

Yep agreed. Anglian Water have electric vans, OpenReach electric vans, our DPD is electron fuelled too. Local council have small electric vans and our GP has an EV for doing his rounds.
On the small estate where I live I was the first with an EV, now there are 8 in around 40 houses, we have two!
Thanks for starting this thread GadgetGeek, it's about time we had such a discussion.

Seen a very recent increase in our smallish estate, there are at least 5 MG4s (nearly all new model) and same number of Teslas. Also some Leafs (old and new model), probably about 25% BEV's.

When I got my first EV, Ioniq 28kWh, in 2018, I only ever saw a LEAF (just around the corner from us), a SOUL (a few streets further along), and occasionally a Model S in town.

Now on my way into town, I see at least 10 EV's, MG's, Teslas, Hyundai's, Nissans, VW's, to name the common ones. Literally every manufacturer is represented at some point.

What I am noticing now is more and more commercial EV vans, which I think is really important because they account for a lot of CO2 emmissions. (And also it makes so much sense for fleet managers as they are so much cheaper to run).

Don't forget Electric buses... I see quite a lot of them in Leeds, lately....
Agreed, I’ve mentioned the electric double deck buses in Edinburgh previously. What a revelation after a rattly diesel machine. I don’t know how many there are but almost worth waiting in case two of them show up together ??

There's absolutely loads of BEVs round us (north-west Leicestershire). Mostly Teslas, but an increasing number of MGs. We see a tango regularly in Rugby at the cinema, and husband told me there was another one in the car park at badminton the other night, which is in our village, as well as another smurf (SE version) a couple of roads away. Driving to work, it seems like every fourth car is a BEV of some sort.
ETA: oh, and around a third of the fleet of local Arriva buses seems to be BEV.

Yes, MG4s are a regular sight down here now. A year ago it was rare but now I have lost count. More MG5 taxis than any other single type of vehicle.

Quite a few electric vans about, often using the DC chargers, which is nice to see but could be annoying for those on road trips as there are a lot of single and double DC charger installations. Though recently with Salmon's Leap and other installations we're getting much bigger charger options.

I guess an awful lot of commercial traffic is local and not bothered by range restrictions.

Although we see quite a few BEV's out driving, looking at those parked on driveways it's a different picture around here. I only saw 3 with green stripes out of about 100 when walking home yesterday.

I'm hoping this is just a 'demographic' thing, as when I looked closer about 50% were older than 10 years, and only about 10% younger than 4 which is roughly when the green stripe came in I think.

Actually it could be a good thing, people may be going out in their EV by preference and only using their ICE car if they really have to.
