EV opposition in the media is ramping up

More FUD. Talks all about Ford losing money, yet glosses over the fact that Tesla don't lose money. ?

It looks like he's got an axe to grind with Ford, as there's no mention of any other car maker. Even Tesla got bailed out by the government before it started making a profit, and look at it now.

Legacy car manufacturers are having trouble making the switch to EVs. Ford is making a particular meal of it. Several videos from Dave Takes it On predicting Ford's imminent insolvency.

A belated.

Toyota seems to be leaning the same way as Ford. They are so far behind Chinese EV manufacturers they may never catch up yet they were producing Hybrids before most. The CEO keeps changing tack and has been banging on about their solid state battery that keeps getting put back by years every time there is another announcement. Within 12 months he has gone from saying there is no future in EVs & it is all about hydrogen to announcing a new line up of EVs in the next few years.

Toyota will probably die with ICE.

Correct. Most EV manufacturers set a maximum speed and the system will not allow the car to exceed that speed. The MG4 top speed is capped at 160 kmh. Even the Tesla model Y Plaid with its 0 to 60mph in 2 seconds has a capped top speed of 200mph (322kmh.)
This is related to the maximum rated rpm of the electric motor.

Rimac got around it with a 2 speed gearbox, but you can only change gear when stopped. Best 0-60 versus best top speed.

Here's a nice piece of investigative journalism which sheds some light on why Sunak is back tracking on his green promises (and it's not all because his wife and father-in-law have a lot of money invested in the oil and gas industry).

Car in village Potter Heigham, Norfolk near me has burst into flames, apparently took an hour to extinguise by fire brigade. Just hoping it’s not an EV which will give more fuel to this particular fire. Can’t quite see from the pictures what car it

I reckon that's an ICE car ... engine bay fire. (Could be a hybrid, but if it was a battery fire I wouldn't expect the fire to be concentrated at the front, and for most of the body shell to be still intact).

Good article, still won't change the anti EVist's minds though. Sad I know.

Yep, the local newspaper‘s facebook page first comment is someone suggesting an EV. This stuff is all-pervading. I was tempted to argue the case but as you say, probably a waste of time.

Agreed. These Luddites don't want facts, they want non factually based opinions which match their own. Lets hope they don't start destroying the factories like they did in the wool and cotton industries in the mid 1800's. :)

Those that are anti EVs absolutely will not change their minds under any circumstances, whatsoever. Even if presented with indisputable facts in front of them, they'll still say, Yeah but.....:rolleyes:o_O

I was absolutely fizzing mad yesterday. Parked the Five in the multi storey parking beside two other cars of the green stipe number plate persuasion. Spent nearly two hours in the Livingston shopping mall having lunch and replacing my phone.
Came out -nothing - car park pristine - no burning smell, no flames, not so much as a hairline crack visible on the concrete? failed!
But I did commiserate with the poor lassie sat in her petrol car with the hazard lights going, blocking the roadway - ran out of petrol - poor soul??
So that brightened up my day again when she asked “petrol?” says I “oh no I wouldn’t carry that nasty smelly stuff around with me, could cause a fire you know “?

Bit like religious arguments...futile . Some are prepared to sacrifice the lives of all living things on Earth on the altar of God Oil . The planet will survive ...we won't

Whoops! Here comes the 'fail' again...

It's dreadful... apparently it can 69p a Kw and it's difficult to pay...
