EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Oh, yes we do. ?

As far as I remember, 87p. Daylight robbery. The couple on the AC plug said that was the same. Be cheaper with petrol. I reminded them that with a petrol car you always have to pay public prices, but with an EV it's 2p/mile most of the time. And that, of course, is how they get away with it.

Nicely repeats the FUD that stops people wanting EVs.

Main claims:
  • People don't want EVs.
  • People are afraid of second hand EVs.
  • Batteries lose 40-50% over 10 years.
  • Most people can't charge at home.
  • Let's plant trees not restrict ICE.

Well the main reason people avoid EVs is the kind of FUD in these videos:
  • Modern battery systems you'll typically have 80%+ range still there after 10 years, looking at 10 year old EVs today is misleading, these are obsolete technology for the main part.
  • Nobody seems to know or talk about the huge cost savings with EVs and reduced maintenance costs.
  • The stats indicate the reverse: most people could charge at home.
  • Nobody seems to know that EVs are a vastly superior driving experience.

The argument always seems to be reduced to "The government is forcing me into a substandard product".

Reaching.....

Weird that the headline has nothing to do with the article - the article talks about cars in general and their complexity and connectedness. Looks like an EV-hating editor slapped the headline on for clicks.

EVs are actually simpler than conventional cars.

What is adding all the complexity are these driver aid systems that are mandatory but nobody asked for them. If we stripped out those, the vast majority of complaints would disappear.

Could someone hack a modern car remotely? Yes, it is possible. But no more possible with EVs than ICE.

2023 uk most stolen cars
Ford Fiesta 5976
Ford Focus 2120
Volkswagen Golf 2038
Mercedes C-Class 1786
Range Rover Sport 1631
Range Rover Evoque 1489
BMW 3 Series 1466
Vauxhall Corsa 1110
Vauxhall Astra 1086
Land Rover Discovery Sport 954

Only the corsa has the possibility of having an ev in its line up, I don't think astras were out then?

Shame on you ice thieves, haven't you heard EV is where is at.

Well its Silverstone!! Who uses Silverstone.. Petrol heads and anti EV crowd. Theyre scared of the future simple as that. Why would they encourage installing fast chargers. Its what ignorant people do. Pretend something doesn't exist and ignore doing any proper research. Then do the bare minimum to say at least theres a charger. Because installing a home charger at silverstone 7 and 22,kw charger helps someone who needs fast charging.

Companies like Nyobolt will have the tech and tracks around the country will not bother then people go on Pistonheads and wax lyrical on propaganda points ?.

In the year 2024 this is still a discussion that all public chargers should be minimum 150 kw, all manufacturers should conform to a standard for their cars, that there should be charging stations the size of petrol stations with a bloody roof, proper sit down rest areas with free wifi, restaurant/cafe, shop...They should be checked daily, they should be plug and play. I mean China have battery swap stations for Nio cars. UK cant even get a reliable charging network lol.

I disagree with you about all public chargers being ultra-rapids. Lots of places I just want to let the car sit on a 7 kw in the car park while I go off and enjoy myself. The last thing I want to have to do is exit the entertainment venue to unplug the car and move it.
Isnt that where the apps that are usually a hinderance come in? You can limit the charge from the home charger or timing. Should be the same on the public one especially with the car app. Cant you tell the car not to charge above 80% or stop charge from the charger at certain percentage?

Also others might want to use the charger youve been parked at for 10 hours ?. Thats why people create beef about public charging
