Please don't follow this advice but if you want to get away with a criminal career then commit crimes short of murder or serious assault. Police are, like every other public service, under resourced and checking CCTV footage is extremely time consuming so it will only be done in exceptional cases.

Yes, the cops spent a very long time on that investigation! It's not something they could use to keep tabs on everybody.

Whereas the records of where we spent money are a lot easier to get hold of. I now have visions of Dick Dastardly moving untraceably across the country plugging into associates' wall boxes every night...
