Extra 20 Miles?

This might help people who are desperate for a charge.

It’s a strange thing really, but my wife has said from the time we first got our full BEV, that somebody should come up with the idea ? of making a large booster pack, that you can carry around, for emergency use !.
Well, somebody must have been thinking along the same lines, it appears !.
It must be similar to the units that some of the recovery services carry.
Not cheap for an extra 20 miles of range, but if the price is right, then I think it will sell.

What if the thing is so heavy it shaves off 20 miles? :)

On a serious aside, if these packs begin to increase capacity, they'd have good used at home for storage e.g. off peak, solar etc.

Once the prices of these come down to £100 per kWh of capacity, I'll be getting one for my ZS.
Another say 7kW could make all of the difference to my use case.

Think back to a few years ago when buying an SD card, it cost about a £1 per Gig, now you pick up 256 Gb for a few quid, so hopefully prices will drop as demand increases and hopefully not go the other way!!

The smaller size one is 4kw so would give about 16 miles in the ZS in good weather (aka summer) and closer to 12 miles in the winter.

There is no indication of how long does it take to transfer the charge which would be my main consideration

For the price and weight I would buy the range extender ....... (aka 3kw generator) for £250 - plug in a granny charger I could get about the same mileage in an hour.

The maths are very optimistic. The 20miles was based on 5miles per kw and no battery losses.

The one thing that I did see is it supports bidirectional charging in home. If so, that would be lot cheaper than a home battery.

You will have to chain it to the car door handle and fit a locking petrol cap when you leave it unattended!

It's so big it fills the boot. If I was going on a long trip where I 'might' run out of electrons I like to think I would prepare better. Waste of money solving a problem that doesn't really exist (yes I know a few people have run out, but really....)
