Fasten seat belt warning

There are definitely sensors in the back seats!

Our dog moving around used to trigger it until we started leaving the belts plugged in all the time.

He's a medium sized dog, around 30kg, though probably has weight distributed around the seats when he is adjusting himself.

Still, heavier than a flute I expect!

Opening the rear doors doesn't do anything. I often open a back door to put a bag of music kit or shopping or whatever on the back seat, close it again, and drive off. Never had a seat belt warning.

There are various wires and connectors on the underside of the rear seats, I saw them when I had the seat base out to fit the seat covers. I assume they include sensors to tell if the seat belt is fastened and pressure sensors coinciding with wherever the backside is presumed to be placed.

This is such an annoying feature bug. It's ridiculous that you can't reverse two feet up the bloody drive without using the seat belt. This is nannying gone mad.

Used to always come on when I put a bag of shopping on the rear seat. Now I leave the rear seat belts fastened when the seats are empty, and put the shopping on top!
It usually doesn't come on for a few seconds when you start. It certainly shouldn't be on for reversing.

I started to move the car on my drive without letting all the screens start up. It allowed me to move the car forwards and backwards till the infotainment screen started then it locked the car and wouldn't let it move either way till the seatbelt was fastened.

In my MG4, when I drive without a seatbelt, for example, when leaving parking lots where I need to stop at the automatic payment machine and then insert the ticket to exit. When I need to drive again without wearing the seatbelt, I just put it in D and then press the parking brake button (the one with the red LED) downward, and the car starts moving even without the seatbelt.

Hmm, interesting. I'll give that a try next time. Thanks for the tip ;)

I have seat belt extenders in both my front seats and the rear belts buckled up, so I've not encountered this problem. ;)
