First MOT now won’t charge

Hi, the local MG garage has shut down and I was recently sent along by the car lease company to a small independent garage for its first MOT and regular service instead. The garage reported no issues when I collected it and so I went along my merry way. Unfortunately - and possibly coincidentally- since this time I can only change my car with the granny charger. My home project Ev charger now does not register when the car is connected. The app displays “please plug in vehicle to commence” the car displays “connected but not charging”. I’ve done all the common sense things I can think off and wonder whether this is a car software or hardware issue (the cable doesn’t look damaged though).

Any thoughts/hints/tips before I go back to the lease company.

have you tried another charger elsewhere? the car might be OK and the problem could be with your charger.

I'd take it straight back to the garage and explain reasonably that after the MOT, it no longer charges and would they care to sort it out for you.

Yes, at a genie point and one other. On both occasions the charger points were at fault according to their helplines. You are right I should try this again though. I just wondered if there may be a quick fix. Thank you !

If the service was carried out by a third party garage, which lease companies like to use, then it likely be a quick health check combined with the MOT checks.
I can’t see any reason why this could cause your charging problems TBH.
If the car charges from your Granny unit and will charge from another wall box / public charging post, then it’s not likely to be the car at fault.

Is your home charger tethered or do you use a separate cable?
Might be worth giving the connectors a clean - there are good practices listed on the forum here.
Cables don’t last forever and if you can, try testing with a different one.
