First shot with MG Pilot

It takes a bit of getting used to.
Still not 100% confident that I won't run into somebody.
A local road has a sharp 90 degree bend. You need to slow down to make the bend.
(The fence has been replaced many times).

As the car hurtles along at 30mph towards the bend, I have seen no signs its going to slow or try and make the turn.

It will only slow if you're following a vehilce and that slows*, and it will only follow bends if it can detect the edges of the road such as white lines or kerbs. In any event, I thought MG Pilot only worked above certain speeds and without checking the manual I thought it was more than 30mph but stand to be corrected.

*unless it detects an obstacle, then it will emergency brake.

That's what I suspected.
It's an aid to driving only.
The car warns if you don't keep a grip on the steering wheel.

I like it a lot. Probably not really designed for wonky country roads, more for A roads and motorways. Having said that I do use it as much as I can. But you do have to keep an eye out for corners etc..

It’s also nice to just use the ACC - maintains speed and distance but no steering. I use this a lot.

I use pilot as much as possible as I have a bad right foot. I did have a few instances where I got "MG pilot quit" on the screen, and lane control would kick in, even though turned off. A software update was done which improved things, and is probably included now in comfort 2. It is good for crawling in traffic, but be careful when approaching intersections as you will follow the car in front, though may not be your turn.

I've had a couple of instances where my car is accelerating under ACC, and then beeps the warning "possible collision ahead" (can't remember exact msg). As the car is 'driving' I do wonder why it tells me that- why doesn't it just put the brakes on?

Agreed. I don't like the feel of lane control. Comes into its own if you're half asleep, though you shouldn't be. If you can't stay in a lane, I do wonder if you should be on the road...
