Has any one fitted a 12V socket in the boot and how did you do it , take it from ?

Rather than opening up panels and go fishing for a 12V supply, I would run a wire from the 12V positive battery terminal via a 10A fuse to the boot and connect it to your new socket, put the other side to chassis ground.
It will provide power even when the car is off but beware it may run down your battery if used for prolonged periods.

You could use a voltage sensing relay to disconnect power below 12.8V, it would automatically connect & disconnect as car is turned on/off.
