Forced unbind in the iSMART-app, how long does it take?

The dealership must certainly be held to account for these issues. When they ‘take on’ a previously owned vehicle, or allow test drives on a demo, they should ensure that the vehicle has been unbound. There’s really no excuse for this to be overlooked. And would-be purchasers should require the sales person to demonstrate that the vehicle is available for binding by a new owner.

Having to wait 72 hours before a forced disconnect happens is essential, in case the vehicle has been stolen - I’m sure that’s perfectly understandable!
The car is a 73 plate and has only 3800 miles in the clock and only ever owned by the MG dealer and part of the reason I bought it as its like a brand new car. I assumed it would be a member of staff who had bound the vehicle to the app but seemingly no one admitting to it, unless it was loaned for an extended test drive to a potential buyer. Just hoping the 72 hour unbind works or customer services sorts it out.

Update I have now successfully bound my ZS. Whether it was because I hit the unbind button ,or because I emailed Support with my security concerns,or because I spoke to dealership chat line ., I'll never know.
Probably not the salesman who said he'd phoned the previous owner because ISmart app said it was because the previous owner had not responded within 72 hours 🤔

@maskull - the 72 hour forced unbind via the app was developed to facilitate new owners being able to do exactly that, and reduce reliance on MG Customer Support.

It must be a relief to gain complete control of your car!

On your first point ,I can understand that. I just wish there was more feedback in the app so that the owner could understand what's happening in real time ,maybe there's a ISmart manual somewhere?🤔
On you second point, yes it is 😊

I'm in the same boat waiting for my car to be unbound. When you successfully logged in did you get a message on the infotainment system to say the car is now unbound? Some people have said they did and others didn't.

I need to leave mine 2 more days since I last did the force unbind request on the car before I try again. Not heard anything from Customer Services other than an acknowledge to my emails
