Hi.

I had read some where that those affected by the buggy BMS were entitled to a free first service. Does anyone know if this is official or if there is anything I can point dealer to to get this?

Thanks.

Had a letter for a free 2nd year service as "compensation for the inconvenience caused by the software updates".

I flagged up to my dealer. Got free service agreed at end of year after my car was in for BMS update in February. Not received letter or replica car yet.
This attached note is what I copied to my dealer.

That's great, do you know where that came from. Is that an official mg release?

I'm not sure it was copied I believe from an internal communication. I have seen a copy of a letter sent by MG to a customer on subject as attached.

Did you have to ask for it or did it just arrive? My dealer didn't say anything when I picked up the car after the update.

No when I collected the car they gave me a model car and said I would recieve a letter for a free service next time.
About a week later the letter arrived.
My dealer was chorley group Burnley.

What’s the model car like? Are they available to buy do you know?

I can confirm that I have been given a free service because of the Buggy BMS update. Unfortunately for me I have had both updates done and still have charging issues ( My car is still incapable of doing a delayed charge from Smart Charger) the free service has been marked on records so that when it is due I get it free Plus Teddy Bear

I've had mine done range is increased and no issues whatsoever. My understanding is that the MG doesn't offer delayed charging only the charger does this, so would not think any MG update will change that fact. Maybe charger providers needs to update the charger

It is the cars charger that requires an update to stay live for 10hrs after use to allow the smart charger to commence charging. Unless the update is done to the car the delayed charge cannot commence

It is my understanding that the BMS update hasn't anything to do with delayed charging, it corrects a balancing issue algorithm, I also have read of others saying that the wall chargers have to be modified to provide a trickle feed to keep the car awake as MG do not have a built in delayed charging facility.

What is required is an update on the EVCC on the car so that the onboard car charger remains switched on for 10 hrs after use of the car. The trickle feed from the home charger was a work around that the charger companies had to do when the ZS first came on the market. This was corrected by MG by updating the EVCC to accommodate Smart charging from Home chargers.

What's your dealer saying?

Problem has been referred to MG technical as updates applied should have fixed the issue. I seem to have an odd experience as the updates applied should hav fixed the EVCC to do delayed charging without any problem. Problem is not particular to the type of charger as there is a video by EV Green Auto on U tube doing a delayed charge on a MG ZS with the same charger I have. The problem seems to be particular to my car.
