Hello everyone,

New here as I have just placed a deposit on a new HG PHEV Exclusive for delivery in september. I got this on the Affinity scheme so was a good deal, I saw the deal posted in May for around £28k with 0% finance. gutted I didn't think of a car then I'm guessing prices of the HS have gone up these few months because of the shortage of chips the dealers keep telling me.

The affinity scheme was good value as it reduced the price of the car and got free paint and type 2 wire but they weren't willing to do 0% as well.

Just a question, the MG doesn't come with mats or wheel locking nuts, although when I bought my new previous car it came with both. Just want to throw it out there to see what everyone else's experience was when buying their car. Did you get any other freebies?

Hi Kazuki no it does not come with mats or locking wheel nuts as standard.
I negotiated the mats in free when I brought my car.
I must admit I never thought about locking wheel nuts at the time, as I thought all cars came with them , and was surprised it did not come with them.

Thanks Jem for the feeback. My old new car was only £18k and came with both, I was surprised that this time it didn't come with either. I guess the dealer wasn't keen on throwing in either as they knew I wanted the car. A new HS in red is quite rare at the moment, every dealer seems to be trying to get rid of the blue with red seats. Supposedly MG are changing the red and blue paint so you cant even order these colours anymore

I will probably shell out of for these either through mg or somewhere else, I don't want to come back from shopping to find my car held up by bricks with all the wheels gones haha

Hi I've been informed by a few garages that theft of alloys is on the decline these days, they more likely to steal whole car instead. So not really a must have.
From my experience more trouble than they worth.I had a two cars on the trot that they had seized on,having been tightened too much by a tyre shop.I had to cut them off .They where that tight the nut key broke !

That's probably true, last time i heard of a theft, someone had sawed up my brother in law's Jazz exhaust while he was supermarket shopping. I guess that's also a concern, I actually half considered a full electric for that reason. I'm not sure how MG ranks in terms of thefts though.

Touch wood, I normally have trouble loosening the wheel nuts but not enough for them to be impossible

I got free mats and 2 key rings with mg shopping trolley usable token things.

I had the mats thrown in but I'm quite happy not to have the locking wheel nuts.
They ceased to be useful a long time back.

I got a teddy bear from my dealer. I now have 3 of them as this was the third car we had bought from them.

This is a different bear to the MG “service“ bear and I currently have 3 of those as well!

The price was that cheap there was not a lot of room, we got an MG water bottle, key rings, pen, we did get a good price for their protection pack which included mats, and the paint and interior protection applied, what you get seems to be different in these packs depending on the dealer

Hi, when I read this first I thought it was a wind up!
When the drivers in Scotland met up a few weeks ago, the other guys all listed goodies that they had received etc. none of which I even knew about. I got some Vic Young car mats and MG Key fobs.
Some time after purchasing, I have received a Morris the Teddy Bear and a die-cast model of an MGB (love it!).
I also seemed to have paid pretty much the full price at the time, although they too all listed off some attractive discounts they had gobbled up!!

But, you know what, I'm still very happy with my car!

I was worried about not having locking wheel nuts on my mg5 - then I saw the wheels - no one will believe they're alloys....

Yeah good price on the affinity scheme and because they knew I wanted a rareish colour no freebies. I read somewhere cars sold on affinity counts towards their quarterly bonus but not sales bonus, so obviously less profit for them.

Not sure if I will buy the mats, they will have mg on them but may just get aftermarket ones

I don't remember seeing teddies when I was in the showroom, it's a nice little touch that they gave you and shows that they value your custom, still hoping that they may surprise me on car pickup day as its something my kids would like.

I believe you only get the MG Bear on your first service, not sure if you have to have a service contract though, can't remember

That is something that Eric Stead have done for a few years now. Their bear is different to the MG bear. It’s called Stead E Bear and if you send off the registration letter they send a certificate Of ownership. The grandchildren have 2 and I kept the EV one.

Hi, I just joined this group and saw this interesting conversation. Needless to say, I didn’t receive any freebies and had to purchase my MG car mats myself. Didn’t think of wheel nuts or anything else. I bought the blue with red seats - interesting to hear they are trying to get rid of these ? - not sure what to think about that. I’m quite impulsive but I do like the car after driving VW Tiguan for 4 years!

I guess the blue exterior with red seats is a marmite thing, either you love or hate it. Unfortunately my wife wasn't keen on that combination. I think the white with red seats looks great but my wife preferred the red exterior.

Maybe its just a coincidence but most dealers at the time I was looking only had blue & red seats and none of the others. And they were really trying to push that combination.
