Hi

I have mg mg4 excite 51. Electrician installed the 7kW line. Using fronius watt pilot to charge. When using it as a dumb charger, all works well. When using it in eco mode, occasionally I see the mg is charging at 0kW. Ie not charging according to ismart app. And the solar system is exporting up to 7kW back to grid. Not what I expected to happen. I expected the surplus to be given to the car. Unlock the car and lock it again, then finish charging using the ismart app and then click start charging again, the charging process is fine again. Until next time a cloud comes over and then it stops charging again and does not charge again until I intervene. Supposed to be automatic using excess solar. Any idea? Thanks.

I think that there is a trick to keeping some MGs from sleeping when the charging pauses, and this Fronius isn't doing it.

Alternatively, it might be the car's EV Communications Controller (EVCC) unit needs replacing or a firmware update. This used to happen with the first ZS EVs, I would have hoped that they had solved this by now.

And today it worked flawlessly even with the occasional cloud. Go figure. My settings are: vehicle charges when Pv battery reaches 70%, discharge Pv battery is disabled, allow charge pause is enabled, simulate unplugging is disabled, charging pause 1 min, min charge time is 2 min, forced charging time 5 min.

Yes you might be right. I haven’t found a pattern or anything. Just randomly find it sleeping. I just check the car using iSmart every now and again. If I find it charging at 0kW when the Fronius is exporting a higher number e.g. 6 kW, I manually stop the car charging and then start charging again and then it behaves until it next goes to sleep. Does anyone know how I can automate this without the car going to sleep when a cloud comes over the panels? This was the main reason to buy the watt pilot. The ads made it sound so simple. Thanks.
