Sounded to me like the Near Side mechanism was just about to give up the ghost!

Definitely sounded "motory" to my ear.

But a quick squirt of WD40 silicone spray into the gap on three sides has completely shut it up.

Took about 10 openings and closings to quiet down, but now back to being silent.

Long may it continue.

I had to lubricate the door mirrors on my Focus too.
