Have your say on future MGEVs Podcasts

maybe we could discuss the posts about battery not heating/cooling when fast charging when doors locked. Maybe hazard lights resolves it. Is this fact or fiction, issue or non issue?

As a new MG4 owner the one thing that I think would transform MGs customer satisfaction is to make software updates either part of the annual service or available OTA. Perhaps a bit of both. OTA if no calibration needed otherwise customer service. I'd like to see someone from MG on the podcast respond to this challenge. I genuinely believe it would transform their customer approval as the hardware is very good, the driving experience is wonderful, but the software fixes they issue are not available to most customers and those that get them need to deploy guile, begging, cajoling, smooth talking or magic phrases like "bluetooth connectivity issues". It shouldn't be this way.

It would be so easy to transform irritated customers to satisfied by :
1. making software fixes easily available
2. improving software quality e.g. MG Pilot features that are half way to great. e.g. ACC or hmm perhaps LKA but that may be the beer talking

As a broader point I'd like MG to join the podcast and explain their plan to get to be top quartile for reliability and satisfaction. In developed markets the service wrap is incredibly important to a brand's success. I'm available for consultancy.

As a new member and about to do a journey in Jan from Birmingham to Berlin and back I would like a discussion on how you feel the suitability of the MG4 for such a trip. Think I will use all ionity on this trip using their passport offer at 43p/kWh.

I recently did a trip to Lands End and back in one day and found it brilliant. Charged at three points: Ionity at Cullumpton, Tesla at Camborne and Gridserve at Exeter. No problems at all, great speed and very comfortable.

It'll be great. I see you have the LR Trophy. If you were doing a lot of fast motorway/autobahn stuff maybe the ER would be even better, but you'll be absolutely fine. I just took my SR on a 360 mile round trip today. Two charges, lunch and dinner, no hassle at all.

Ah I have the ER ? pretty confident all will be great

More news on updated facelift models to come? Dates, Battery size, ranges, changes, new colours etc… ?

DIY software updates ? .. it seems quite a few have successfully updated their software themselves. A little walkthrough of how to do this with all the necessary steps would help ?

DIY software updates ?
I'm not sure that this is an ideal topic for a wide audience thing like this forum's podcast.

My guess is that 90% of viewers would drop off before the end, when they answer:
  • How hard can it be? Oh, that hard. Aha.
  • What could possibly go wrong? Oh, that bad. Aha.

Just my personal opinion. Maybe people might be interested in how it's done, even if they'd never consider it themselves. Like me watching cave explorers. I'm fascinated by the techniques and the views, but the thought of getting trapped gives me the willies.

This might cause MG to throw a wobbly. While the software and the method is relatively not well known they will turn a blind eye, but if it becomes widely advertised whoever is making the software available will be in big trouble.

If by whoever you mean MG... I'm not so sure. We are paying MG for the right to diagnose and update the car via their portal (as any independent shop must be able to).

Infotainment updates are strictly MG-only, but it's full of forgetful techs who leave USB keys laying around in customers' cars

As from Monday 3rd of March we will be MG trophy owners. It would be nice to have a list of the abbreviations so I can understand what you are talking about. Also, and this might be a bit contentious, a list of dealers ranking from good to bad.

Dave, there are dealer forums here where people can leave feedback on their experiences, may or may not be helpful to you. You can also ask people for recommendations in your area - I would suggest you create a new thread for that.

We do also have a Wiki:

Just watched the last podcast ... wow those Hybrid+ owners are a feisty lot - a tough crowd you had to control there Tom! 😂
