Heat pumps in the MG4

My house heat pump works very well below 6C, and -2C, manufacturer states all will work to -25C.
It heats my hot water cylinder to 60C if required, but usually 43C is hot enough.
43°C is never enough for a hot water tank, it’s not enough to kill legionella bacteria. 60°C should be the minimum.

It doesn't have to be permanently at 60, just reach that temperature and remain there for a period, every now and then. Neither of these periods I will pretend to know without googling.

I'm maybe wrong, but AC is used just for cooling, for heating, some use PTC heaters and some heat pumps. In every case AC button need to be activated for heating to work. And ECO button just reduce the energy supplied to heating system, so heating will take longer to heat the cabin in very cold days, but in majority of cases is enough even on ECO.

No, when heating the car you don't "need" A/C on. You can heat the car with A/C on too.

I have sometimes wondered if mine isn't quite right, but it's only occasionally that it blows cold air at me when I have the temperature set to max. I don't fancy getting the dealer to look at a very intermittent issue like that.

My Metros (and Maestro and Montegos) had a ventilation system that always sent cold air to face vents and warm to feet and screen.

But they predated A/C.

It’s the most efficient, yet not the most comfortable. The AUTO setting does that in the MG4 most times which is why I set it to AUTO but then manually override the vent selection.

The cars must work differently. In mine I have to turn the A/C off if I want it to heat. It always tries to blow cold with the A/C on.
This isn't how mine works. I have never turned AC off since day 1. Setting a high temperature gives me warm dry air, a low temperature gives me cold dry air - pretty instantly.

I wonder if there is something a bit wrong with mine, then. I've always been quite happy with the way it works, but a couple of times recently when I've had the aircon on because it was warm and then the temperature has dropped significantly, the damn car was blowing cold air even when I set the temperature to HI. I had to turn the aircon off to get warm.

I'm a bit wary of approaching my terrible dealer with what may be an intermittent problem though. Maybe wait till I change to a new dealer.

There could be a fault, some other people have been reporting strange AC behaviour.

But yes, a good one for the new dealer to prove themselves on I think.

I'm still with the old one till they have fixed the charging port lights, and I intend to get on to them about the left star button at the same time. But after that, goodbye.
