I have done an online price guaranteed quote for a small PV install and battery with Heatable, which seems remarkably good value. Their online reviews look very good too.
Does anyone have any personal experience of this company, are they really that good and reasonably priced ?

Can't comment on them for installing PV and battery but I've just had a new boiler fitted in my home (Gas, sorry but we have microbore pipework on the heating so ASHP was regrettably out of the question) and they were extremely efficient! In fact, I confirmed the purchase on the Monday and the installation took place the next day.

The installer was actually from a third-party company, quite local to me (and thus seems to be a sub-contractor to Heatable) and he was quick and very efficient (apart from the fact that he should have sent me certain documentation after his visit - nearly two weeks ago - and I'm still waiting, but Heatable Customer Service are "chasing").

Price, not the cheapest quote I received but I went with them because I was impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of their agents on the phone and they offer up to 10 years warranty for the specific boiler I chose.

HTH.

Thanks for this recommendation. I too have microbore pipework - such a pain - and my boiler is okay at the moment…….(touching wood here)…..but it’s good to have information at the ready, just in case!

I didn't fancy the upheaval of changing radiators for an ASHP, so went for the Tepeo Zero Emission Boiler (ZEB). It charges up on the cheap rate overnight, and then you can draw off the heat when you need it. It integrates with our smart speaker and is very responsive.

There is a common assumption that heat pumps cannot work with microbore. The logic is clear - heat pumps are lower temperature and so require higher flow rates.

The heat geeks are challenging this assumption that microbore rules out heat pumps.

I thought we had microbore but looking more closely it seems we only have microbore on two of the radiators, so I'm not sure it would be a problem after all.

Just need to convince the wife, which is the harder part!

@Gadget Geek
Thanks for that - I just had a quick look, but the price…..ouch!
However, if the running costs are lower, then it’s worth considering.
On average, ASHP's cost £14,000 to install, which works out to around £7,500 with the government grant. Also, the ZEB was a straight swap out, gas boiler out, ZEB in. No modifications to the central heating system. :)

The quotes I got a few years ago were lower than that. Around £4k - £5.5k after the grant. We didn't go ahead with it then. Difference largely seemed to be based on whether they were replacing 40% of radiators or all of them.

Maybe it is because we have a smaller house than average - 3 bed end terrace. And maybe costs have gone up since then.

Bear in mind those quotes included a new water cylinder as well, which would be more efficient than the unvented one it would replace.

I have microbore and got an ASHP from Octopus in May and have had no issues. Cost me £3,500 after the grant so comparable to a gas boiler.

Used Heatable last month for a home battery and found them pretty good so far.

Good to know!

Did they change any radiators?

Heatable installed our solar and home battery. Very good install and done in 2 days.
I'd recommend as they do a site specific install and the panels they use are highly efficient. The only thing I would add is that if you get a energy provider to install a system (ie Octopus/Eon etc) they have some really good smart export tariffs (around 40p/KWh)

Good to hear you are happy with it.
Who pays 40p/kWh?
