High Beam issue with stalk vs auto lights

I've twice now accidentally knocked off my headlights when toggling high beam via the stalk. I normally use the front of my fingers to knock the stalk forward but find I sometimes catch the automatic headlight toggle.
Do people use their fingertips on the end of the stalk only or are just more careful than I am? Scares me when all the lights go out on a tight back road in winter.....!
It's one aspect I'm not used to from driving other cars, wish it would change....!

I've done that , its a matter of getting some muscle memory in place to stop it. Others have recommended putting a small elastic band in place on the stalk to keep the toggle switch in one place or at least to "stiffen" its resistance to movement.

To me auto high beam works a treat. In 1 years of ownership I have a single time had auto high beam was not predicting correctly, but in that case both cars were coming up each side of a steep hill. I can accept that that is a tricky situation

I wasn't impressed by the auto high beam after being spoiled with matrix led lights in my last ev so I opted for manual. Might have been the software but might try auto again....Thanks. Good idea about the elastic band!

After my car got the update that improved the sensitivity of the auto-lights (i.e. so that they didn't come on because a small cloud passed over the sun) I found that the auto-main-beam performance was also improved. Nowadays I just leave it all on auto.

I have an ICE Corsa as a courtesy car at the moment and find the auto-lights on that are no better (or worse) than my MG4.

This also helps each time I drive the other car - on that it's a pull to toggle the high beam, the opposite of the MG .

I've always used my thumb on the end of the stalk, but I still managed to turn the lights off once due to the stalk being so short.

Hmm... I wonder if using the palm of the hand / base of the thumb would be workable .

You can push the stalk away from you to toggle high beams on and then again to toggle off. From my experience using push both times makes it less likely to accidentally turn off the lights.

The 3 times I've had this happen it's always been trying to dip them in a hurry by pushing the stalk away. My fingers slipped along the stalk a little and toggled both the dipped and full beam off. It's not happened for a while now so it's no longer an issue for me.

Unfortunately where we are, the larger roads always have oncoming traffic so full beam is never used, but smaller roads are typically bendy with hedges so the car can't see them until they've rounded the corner. If the corner is only 30m away I've already dazzled them by the time the car reacts and to be fair to MG the manual does tell you to expect them not to work in this case.
