Hotspot Connected, but getting no Internet

New member, pls be nice.

I received delivery of my MG4 yesterday and have been trying to connect to the hotspot.
Connecting successfully with no problem with my iPhone.
However, once connected, I get no Internet connection on the phone. It just shows the Wi-Fi is connected but nothing loads.
The car's data is working fine as I can force it to check for updates bind my phone and update the profile photo, locate car using the app etc.


Anyone else have the same issue?

Also, read through a few posts on here saying you get limited data anyway.
Some say 1GB, some say 5GB. On other sites, it even says unlimited data.
Is it true that the data is only for the first 5 years? What happens after that?

Anyone have any idea what the real answer is?

Have a look at this video from timestamp 22:00 and see if that helps. According to the video the data allowances are country specific so it must be whatever MG has negotiated with each provider.

What version is your Infotainment system? (Full number please ... SWInnn-nnnnn-nnnnRnn format). I know that SWI68-29958-1300R59 had an issue where the hotspot could be connected to but the DNS server configuration was wrong, so you couldn't get data a connection. The workaround was to set a manual DNS in your device (phone, tablet etc.), such as 8.8.8.8 which is Google's main DNS. I don't know if this was fixed in SWI68-29958-1300R63.

The reason for asking for the full number is that newer build cars have SWI131-etc. versioning.

Welcome to the group.

Yes you can force the car to check for updates but as MG aren't doing OTA (Over The Air) updates it will never find any.

Some owners have found that when the data allowance is used up for that month the weather stops updating.
