I love the car, it's only a year old and I have no plans to sell it.

Say I was thinking of selling / part Ex.

Other than invoices from main dealer or independents how do I show that I have had it serviced by an MG service agent?
How do I verify continuation of AA roadside cover?

Is there such a thing as an online / virtual service book?

Will I be informed about map / entertainment updates? (I know there is a link and process in another thread)

I printed the service log book and ask the dealership to stamp it and date it when the car has a service. You should also get the check list which shows what's been checked .

you are supposed to ask for service printout when you pick up teh car from services. you don't have to demonstrate AA cover - this is supposed to be only for the first 12 months but after every dealer service they extend it for another year as a gesture of good will. There is AA support number to call and they have records of all serviced cars. Make sure you remind your dealer to extend AA cover after every service and check a week or two later.
You won't be informed about map updates. Maybe you could ask teh dealer to update it but I'm sure they would charge you for it. Map updates are free to download for 5 years (as far as I know)

[SOLVED]
I had my car first serviced recently quite cheaply (£64).

I wanted to check the MG AA cover had renewed so I rang the AA number (0800-072-3388)They said my car is covered until 1st January 2026 and because it was electric and all MG EV are covered for 3 years regardless of service with MG, so he said you don't need to get it serviced by MG until 2026 (although he recommended them as they'd have the best diagnostics and training etc) and it adds a year to the AA cover.

Usually when the MOT becomes due the next year I normally take a car to an independent who also services EVs (He also does a lot of Police cars) and is cheaper / more honest than others.

Saved my partner £600-£1200 compared to her dealer.

I don't want to sound negative but what they told you might not be quite right. In the paperwork for the car and on MG website it says that AA is annual cover courtesy of MG for the first 12 months and then as a gesture of goodwill extended annually after every service. Now, 7 years warranty is dependant on regular annual service at MG approved garage - annual - regardless of mileage.

MOT can be done wherever but, for example, I signed for an MG 4 year service plan paid in monthly instalments and with that MOT is £35.

I had the service log book printed into book form, did it on line by uploading PDF to print my pdf site. Cost about £5

I get the dealership to stamp it and date it when the car has a service.
