I'm curious to gauge as to how much people are paying for their EV insurance as I heard EVs tend to be more expensive to insure than a conventional car.
I went with LV (standard range 5 Excite). £217 fully comprehensive for me and wife, both in our 70's, mileage about 5000 a year, protected NCD, plus European cover and recovery to a charger should I run out of electrons anywhere. Not yet put this to the test though!!I'm curious to gauge as to how much people are paying for their EV insurance as I heard EVs tend to be more expensive to insure than a conventional car.
Why do you need breakdown Cover. You get free AA cover from MGI just picked up my new MG5LR Executive today and I found getting insurance a pain. My insurer could not get it under written as not enough data on the new LR, I was with Hastings. I had several online quotes but when I tried to complete they failed or I had to call them. I ended up with Aviva at £470 fully comp premiere with full breakdown cover. This is £220 dearer than my old Citreon C5 estate I had, although I think the price will come down. I did get a quote from Hastings for the MG5 (non lr) Excite for £235.
MG insurance quoted me £795 lol.
You get the first year cover free when you purchase the car. After that you have to have it serviced at a mg dealer. Too keep it covered not necessarily a service plan.Isn't the free cover only when you take out a service plan with them?
Not got mine yet but the dealer told me this week that MG have temporarily suspended new service plans - may be wrong.
I'm with aviva, i upped from 8 to 10k m pa and it cost 80p more than my bmw 320d.I just picked up my new MG5LR Executive today and I found getting insurance a pain. I thought Aviva wasn't on comparison sites same as Direct Line. Have they changed their policy ?I'm with aviva, i upped from 8 to 10k m pa and it cost 80p more than my bmw 320d.
£328 with break down, ncb protected ( 9 years+), legal cover. Late 40s .
Next year i won't need the break down as i forgot i had it with my bank account. Blonde moment.
