How to update your MG ZS EV media system

I did a bit of digging around and it appears the MG ZS EV is only recognised on version 4 of the Naviextras toolbox.. somehow I had managed to download version 3, I will try version 4 when I get home from work and will update if anyone is interested ?

Yes. Lazslo eventually emailed me a non corrupt file. He had sent me three files that kept crashing. Even the one that eventually worked, took me over 4 times of trying before it worked. Its all up and running. The version date on the info tab is now aug 2020

I don't use the maps, I use Waze.
But if for some reason my internet connection doesn't work, I have a "up to date" backup nav.
I found the mediasystem update more important because that made it quite a lot snappier. Also ACC and Pilot seem to be smoother. But that is most likely my imagination.

On that last picture, I think you can scroll down a little bit more and there is a button that would say "Update Navigation"? Sorry, I'm not around my car at the moment, But I think it's that screen, you'll need a USB stick and the Naviextras program.. I'm not sure what version you'd need however.

On the last screen scroll down a bit more. Click update navigation
Put in a formatted usb to get the finger print file
Then open navi extras
You will need to create an account
Then follow the instructions on your laptop or pc from navi extras

It might be worth contacting Naviextras for help - I think they look after the mapping but they might be able to offer some advice. Raise a support request here: Service Desk

Hi. Is that a MG zs ev?
Seems to me it's not, but maybe you can try the blue update buttons in the second last picture. I think though that following ARealHuman's advice and ask Naviextras for help is the best option. Or your dealer.

The nav says that the maps are q2 2018. With toolbox it only finds a charger update but map update is paid (119). I thought the map updates were free?

Hi all.
My car came with the updates installed, at least, that what they said when I picked it up.
I assumed that was right because the GON is permanetly shown on the cockpit screen and the outside temerature is on the screen of the mediasystem.

But I just found out I only got Comfortpack 2 installed, not the 2 other ones.
The good news is, it turns out you can update it yourself.

Because I couldn't find anything in the manual nor in any post about this how to do this I made this post.

The best way to do this is with a laptop in the car, but internet is required.

You can check if you have the latest updates yourself by putting a formatted (FAT32 or exFAT) USB stick in the USB port which is also used for Android auto. Then go to setup/System in the Mediasystem, then scroll down to Update Navigation and press [Start]. Wait a bit untill the system asks if you want to use the USB stick, press [Yes]. When it is finished is says something like "the USB stick contains information about the current software and you have to go to NaviExtras.com"

This is appears to be a MG website wich has software for our navigation system (free and payed updates)
First register by selecting your car (in the Netherlands that is MG ZS EV Western Europe (UK) - so not the non UK one) and fill in the rest ...

After that is done, download the available software tool for your computer (Windows or Apple), install it and start it. Plug in the USB stick and wait a bit. Login. The tool will recognize the information on the stick and tell you if there is any update available and if it's free or not.
Download the desired software, but only one at a time otherwise nothing will be installed in the car.
When the tool tells you to install it in the car, do so.
Go to setup/System in the Mediasystem, then scroll down to Update Navigation and press [Start]

After that and if there are any updates left, redo the whole routine:
format; go to car and put current software signature on USB, plug USB in computer and follow tool, update car etc.

Hi, I updated my NAV system the other day, but normally I use Google Maps through Apple Car Play.

Just for comparison, I searched on the new updated NAV System for my nearest Electric Vehicle Charge Point, but it only revealed two slower 7Kw charge Pod Points on the main street in the next town, it didn't however show me the 50Kwatt BP Chargemaster in a local Car Park next to the Main Street. This unit has only recently been fitted 3 months back BUT shows clearly on Google Maps.

i got my mg zs comfort pack 2020 but it just with the first media system
that i cannot upgrade it because i dont get the update showing on the screen to put on a flash drive nd upgrade it on my computer.
and no one knew how to do it.
please any one help me with that or maybe can upload any new version on flash drive and email it to me maybe i can find a way and put it on a flash drive and try to update it?

I can only suggest e-mailing [email protected] and asking for help - this is a support mail address at Naviextras who provide the mapping and can supply files to restore/update the infotainment system (I notice their support website now comes up with a login page ?‍). I hope that helps.
