MG4 Trophy LR
I have had my MG4 Tropy LR for 10 days now and there is much I like about it, particularly the way it drives
However there are some niggles, mainly to do with the screen and its functions

The first is the Radio which randomly stops playing. It never seems to last for very long before it goes silent. To reactivate it I have to go to the station select screen and re-select the same station which is shows as still playing. Not something to safely do when driving

I have allocated the star push button on the left of the steering wheel to Aircon. When I press the button a popup window appears showing a picture of the control with indications of the toggle button functions. However, when I toggle the button, left right,up down nothing at all happens.

There are other issues but it seems if I ask too many question then I get no answers

(1) Have a search here - I'm pretty sure other Trophy owners have encountered this. The solution may be a software update though.

(2) Try allocating it to the right star button, then you'll instinctively use the right joystick. (Even using the left star button, it's still the right joystick that does the controls). ;)

ACC/TJA (cruise control) or Speed Limit control (depending on what you've selected in the menus), after you've pressed the middle-left button to activate it.

We replaced our BMW i3 with a 2022 MG4 Trophy Long Range a week ago and apart from the wretched LKA, we are loving it. We bought it from a Peugeot dealer who knew nothing about the controls so we took it to our local MG dealer who took us through the touch screen and buttons. As we are pensioners, I videoed the whole lesson on my phone as there is no way any normal person can remember everything and the online manual is a 312-page load of tosh. The dealer immediately knew that the car had not had a recall fix or a software update so it is now booked in for those. He assured us that these fixes will transform the way the car drives and also provide a one-touch button to disable the LKA. We also signed up for a 3-year service agreement for £299, a bargain. If you think that the MG touch screen is challenging, try the giant, complicated i-Pad in a Tesla

Technically it is 4+ touches:

Swipe down from top of screen to show the menu
Tap on the LDP On icon (or however it is described on the Trophy)
Tap on the Confirm prompt
Swipe up to clear the menu

If you're using Android Auto / Apple Carplay then the swipe down action probably won't work, so you'd need to press the physical Home button first.

However if you're getting the SC077 update for LKA then you'll probably find you don't need to turn it off anyway. :)

Thanks but what you describe is how it is now. After the updates the dealer has assured us that one swipe down and one button will disable the LKA rather than one swipe and three taps. The absence of that button on the screen told the dealer that the car had not been updated. Watch this space

If you already have an LKA/ELK/LDP icon in the swipe down from the top of the screen menu then any further updates will make no difference to that functionality whatsoever - I guarantee it. If you don't have that icon (what exact infotainment do you have?) then an update will add it. However the SC077 update largely makes that option redundant.

If you turn down the Sensitivity of LKA, the car will remember the setting, and you won't need to turn it off every time you start the car. I can't remember in what sub-menu you find the Sensitivity settings, I made the change 18 months ago when I got the car and have never looked at it again - and never got the violent twitches that many other owners have reported (here, and also to Which?, which led to a huge campaign from them about these 'safety' measures )

Croxdale is correct and they were very helpful providing us with a full run-through of the controls which I videoed on my phone. Cannot wait for the recall and software upgrade on 1 May when hopefully the infotainment system will work much better. At the moment, the speed limit sign recognition is mostly pants, especially on 60mph country roads which it thinks are 30mph.
I have discovered another problem which I am hoping the upgrade will address. I have a USB with 35 albums on it which all used to play fine in my BMW. Plugged in to the MG4 however, the system can only see three albums in the list. It also annoyingly puts the tracks in alphabetical order instead of the order on the album but to be fair, the BMW did that too. Very annoying and pointless.

Many thanks Martinonline for that referral but having read the whole thread several times, I am none the wiser. The Site Guru does not seem to have an answer either. Either there is a gremlin in the car's system which prevents it from reading more than a few files on a USB stick or MG have set a limit on the number of files it can read. Either way, it needs fixing. I am also going to post this note on the appropriate thread, 'USB Music : Limitations'
