Insurance Question

What a ludicrous situation with regard to insuring an MG4. I quit waiting for a ZS because the delivery time was indeterminate and I like to think I'll stand a fighting chance of owning a new car before I get old(er).

However, here I am now, perversely hoping that the delivery of my MG4 is delayed as no insurance company as yet has come up with a quote that is not a p$%% take. The only "somewhere near real world" quote has come from Admiral, who are quoting me £100 a year more than my current ICE Alfa.
My present company, Aviva, have seemingly not heard of the MG4 yet

Apropos nothing, seems this forum hasn't heard of the MG4 yet either - it's not on the dropdown list as a choice of what's being driven :sneaky:

Have just spoken to LV, not on their system and can't quote..

Oh joy, oh frabjous joy..
Let’s hope they sort this out soon. Should be taking delivery at some point this week. Having the same issues, just a few expensive quotes or none at all on comparison sites. Will take mg temporary insurance and hope it sorts itself out.

Got mine wit Admiral yesterday. They couldnt find it under MG but could under MG-UK something.

My insurance for my MG5 came down as i'm also keeping that and the Mg4 to add as another car was just £300 plus I changed to them for home insurance so got an additional discount.

Admiral are quoting via Compare The Market as of yesterday. Quoted me a very reasonable £380 - just £35 more than for my current Zoe.
Picking up my blue SE LR later this week.

Have owners of MG5 ever shown concern?
The MG5 has been a great car for us I think the issue with the NCAP is they seem more focused on all the driver aids in their scoring now which seems a bit over the top having survived driving without them for 30 (loud cough) years

the dealers seem a bit inconsistent when it comes to the temporary cover, we are been told we get 2 days on one of the MG4’s and none on the other. Pretty sure they gave 5 days when we got the previous MG5.

I have been told they do not offer it all now! Not sure if that is true or not, I should be able to get with Admiral, and whilst they will quote (actually quite happy with the quote), not sure if my reg will be on the system in one day (well 2 days really before pick up, depends when they register it before Wednesday).

Just tryd mg insurance £610 gone with admiral £445 hopefully next year they will have sorted this situation out pick it up Saturday

not sure how possible or cost effective it would be, but I'm thinking about maybe getting best I can (£450 from admiral for me by the look of things), with a view to cancelling as soon as I can get a much better deal?

Should be ok if you do it within 14 days

Drove the MG4 yesterday, and very impressed compared to our current Leaf, so agreed to buy the blue SE Long Range that we'd put a deposit on. However today I came to try to get insurance .... Our current insurer LV didn't want to know. Go Compare I could find the car but no quotes. Finally Compare the Market came up with a few quotes. Admiral look the best at £285 (compared to £250 for our current Leaf).

Well, just finished a very long and excruciating call to Admiral.

Started off at £487.00 for 10 mile PA (7K being business miles) with wife on policy.

Ended up being £455.00 (with personal hospital care {whatever else} ) policy but with knocking £100 a year off my Zed policy when it renews in JUne next year. I am not really confused, and I know I have saved via there multi-car policy, but just so sick of going through all the permeations for the last 40 mins, my heed is fried to hoy them all down here!

All I can say is, got a half decent deal for a car that I was initially struggling to insure. I now rest knowing that when I pick it up on Wednesdays, I am covered.

What happens this time next year??? Well I look forward to lasting that information….hopefully cheaper!!

I'm interested to know if you needed the reg details to insure? My dealer say that they don't show up on DVLA for about two weeks.

You do not need the reg pates, although They do help.

I am registering my private plate on mine which has currently been on retention, but not assigned yet. ?. getting a number (any auld number) from the dealership will help. Then when they confirm, tell your insurance company on day of pick up ?

apparently picking up on Wednesday, dealer sent reg today via email, called esure today to switch cars on the my policy, they couldn't find the mg4 on the database but put it down as a mg zs ev instead and a note that it would be changed over in a few weeks. Price went up £30 from a Hyundai ionic (classic 28kwh). Just got to keep fingers crossed on the new car, sold both our old cars a few weeks back and been relying on bikes and taxi's...

What insurer was that, just wondering if it’s worth giving them a call

Esure I am currently with them on my ICE car, I should give them a call today
