Is horizontal black line between lights "normal" for MG?

We have bought a brand new ZS and took it back to dealer in Newton Abbott today. The service manager has told us that a black horizontal shadow line on the road is "normal" for MG cars. Is this true, as we can reject the car in first 30 days? We also have issues with cornering in the dark.

I had a loan MG4 and noticed a dark area between the dipped and main beam on the offside light.

The experience with MG4 lights is that the factory "adjustment" is pretty rubbish, but on the Trophy the dip and main beam lamps can be adjusted independently to get them correct - there is thread on doing that on here. The SE lamps can only be adjusted as a unit.

Not sure how the ZS lamps are setup.
