Is it worth waiting for a used Cyberster?

MG CARS Website MG Thailands lifetime unlimited mileage warranty is transferable to further buyers. In other words its lifetime for the car regardless if it changes hands. This should really enhance secondhand values.
A warranty that lasts forever with no mileage limit! Sounds almost impossible, so a 30 year old car with a million miles will still get a new battery, motor, and controller if needed free of charge!! ?

Aye but the rust treatment will need an annual check for £xxx

I think it might be that "lifetime" will need to be defined. It might be that the average life expectancy of cars on the road might be considered. I think in some markets the life expectancy of the average car might be something like 12 years. Of course cars can last longer but it would be easy to determine a cars expected life before its considered obsolete. I'm sure a lot will be uncovered when the purchase contract reveals the "fine print".

I doubt any insurers will quote before the dealers get demo cars, and maybe not even until customer cars are already on the boat from China.
MG4 was the same.
Yeah, I remember that particular nightmare. Guess I am getting giddy at the prospect of ordering another new car :)

I am just wanting to do my sums to see if it is worth me getting all hyped up again, or whether the Cyberster will be a none starter at launch for me. Wanting to be the kid at Christmas all over again LOL

Small print. Please read. Im sure 150,000 miles and 10 years then MG might start to ignore calls. By 5 years this particular car probably wont be in production with parts availability reduced. Second hand cars will probably pay a small fee for ongoing maintenance, updates and cover post 7 years. Otherwise they must have a lot of faith nothing will ever go wrong until the cars obsolete

I believe they are coming by train… 2-3 week journey
Customer Cars are in production now I assume. I wonder how long it takes to build a car.

I really wouldn’t count on that as there doesn’t seem to be a dealer around who’ll commit to any sort of timeframe for orders (and it could well be they genuinely don’t know and MG are keeping everyone in the dark). Just my scepticism but I’m expecting it to be at least October, even for those of us who ordered on day 1.

Well not this Christmas ROFL!

£17K trade in for a 2 yr old 4 Trophy means that this particular deal will be a non starter for me. Going from a balloon payment of £15K in a further two years time, means I doubt I will be keeping my car either LOL.

Hand back is nigh on assured.

A lot can happen in the remaining next two years, however, one thing `I have learned with an EV, the money you are forecast to loose, is almost twice as much as you envisaged.

Whilst the incoming tariffs may well help the current used Chinese cars on the market, this will inevitably affect the new car price also, so like House prices, monopoly Money time, and we all loose. ??

I think if you dont want to lose more than standard 10k youd need to sell it by 12 months with low mileage Simple as that.

Right hand drive English language vehicles are already en route to Thailand and Australia en masse. So the UK version shouldnt be far behind.

@Archev if keeping a car like this. Underbody rust treatment and sealing would be done in the first year. I dont think they use salt on roads in China.

Wait a few months and there will be far better cars out there...
The worlds been waiting. Theyre either nothing new, expensive for what they are, expensive to run or unreliable. Ofcourse many people are cross shopping. Im glad we aren't resigned to just the 3 German Marques...

Apparently the new Model 3 Performance can do a quarter mile in 10.9. .1 second slower than a GTR. The Cyberster is 0.9 slower. I wonder if the new coupe will have slightly better performance. If the new coupe can match model 3 performance 2.9 320+ miles range and 540hp i think it may appeal more

Morning all
Any sign of demonstrator cars at any main dealers yet ? another week as passed just fishing for some news.

My understanding is that production and imports will be strictly limited.

So if the car is a hit, it may mean high residuals and difficulty getting one second hand. If it is a big hit, people may even pay over list to get one in the short term.

I think this could be a very different MG experience from that which we are used to, so I wouldn't assume large volumes, rapidly declining prices and easy to pick up second hand cars after 6 months.

After PCPs/leases end, 2 or 3 years in, there should be more of a secondhand market. But it depends how long people want to wait.
